AeroflyFS2 Approach and landing into LAX

Recommended Posts

I feel the music I've added by Sugar Ray fits the theme and length of the video perfectly, since everyone of us simmers wants to be wrapped in the arms of our wings as we fly in the heavens...

Thanks, again it was product placement that caused my issues.  Now I have a carrier and ship in San Diego Harbor!

And hopefully a much more populated California. Taking off from a rooftop in the r-22 is a completely different experience when surrounded by dense autogen.

Sadly I do not have disk space for the CA autogen.  I tried what you suggested about editing the file for additional space, but it rewrites what I put there and logs an error that the path is not found.  I have no example of how a secondary drive path should be added there (i.e. in quotes, etc).  If I could get that to work, I could also add the Venice add-on scenery which I'd really like to do to compliment my Swiss scenery and autogen, which does display.

  1. First, create a folder named  Ipacs (Ipacs is a good choice, or you could use another name) at the location (drive) you intend to move your files.
  2. In your documents folder, typically C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Aerofly FS 2 look for the main.mcf
  3. Open the main.mcf with a text editor and locate <[string8][extra_user_folder][]>
  4. Within the brackets, add your new folder location such as <[string8][extra_user_folder][g:ipacs]>

As a general rule, and to keep things straightforward:

  • Do not call the extra_user_folder scenery, this may lead to confusion with the subfolder.
  • Use only standard characters.
  • Avoid blanks.
  • Use small characters, no capital characters.
  • The extra_user_folder has to contain a subfolder named scenery.
  • The subfolder scenery has to contain a subfolder named images

Note: this new folder will contain only scenery, nothing else.

Well, after a carefully crafted game of musical chairs based on following your instructions to the letter, it works:

My folder hierarchy is now thus:

d:\ipacs (as entered into main.mcf)

    scenery

               places\*.*

               images\*.*

              elevation\*.*

All the add ons I have selected are now install, which include Florida/Washington/Venice/California autogen, airports, and free photoreal scenery, about 20GB in free scenery there altogether....
