Philosophical nature of "X" in FSX

Short essay on the philosophical nature of

Or it just means that Microsoft haven't yet decided on a marketing title and it looks nicer in the press release than a simple number ;)

X is for BOX.

Or they could have just named it X as in X = 10. I believe they intended to take this route in FS2004, despite the box being called FS2004, the files were were in the FS9 folder.

Don't forget X's use as an early form of emoticon. While O is commonly used to communicate a hug in written form, X is used as an affection symbol for a kiss. Example: XOXO = kiss, hug, kiss, hug. Perhaps the developers know how much we love FS and will be overcome with the urge to kiss our screens when we see the next level this hobby has been brought to. In adventure tales, X is also known to mark the spot of a treasure on a map. Microsoft may be communicating that FSX will certainly be a treasure. Thankfully, not only limited to the one who was cunning enough to find it, but for all to enjoy. Don't even get me started on the X Files. Perhaps a Microsoft driven conspiracy plot to get us all to purchase new computers with Vista in the hopes of running FSX to our satisfaction. Ok...back to reality. John

X marks the spot you are supposed to aim at :-)My guess is as Jeroen said its a temp name.My guess for the actual nameFSX....SkyWorldWhats your name for the new FSX? :-)Peter

huh...and I always thought the Xs were hugs and the Os were kisses. XOXO has always been stated and hugs and kisses, not kisses and hugs. I think this matter needs further investigation.Scott

yes, but X is also often used to indicate naughty behaviour. I'm not sure if we want FS to be an X rated product ;)

this should win the Weird Post award of the year....
