Need some P3dv4.5xxx or v5 Rumors? Any

Although you, Rob and I all agree on the LM/MS collusion theory, the one opposing fact to the theory's credibility is that the initial videos of MSFS had reference to an obscure software skunk works in France. It's just as likely that MS assigned a small company to tinker with the FSX codebase and the result is MSFS 2020.

All of these rumors/talk is getting me so excited.  I hope LM under promises and over delivers their next release.

One major clue that I am 100% confident is is Orbx Central push to install outside and using new ways to install.  They are probably testing the new P3D builds and getting things ready.  So its happening for sure.

Fun times in Sim land.

If that's the case, given the same task, my money is on the big military-industrial complex company wiping the floor with the obscure software skunk works in France. 😁 Dovetail already tried that and blow it.

Regarding rumors: my aunt's brother-in-law's daughter's grandfather is convinced that

either MS bought back the ESP code from dovetail that they developed to an incredible level but never rolled out 😂

or MS bought the license for Prepar3D V5 (as LM would have dropped it) and delivers it as MSFS 2020 🤣

At this point, does it really matter?  With MSFS 2020 on the horizon, how many people would be interested in purchasing another version of P3D built on the same/tired ESP engine?  I love P3D and plan to use v4.5 well after MSFS2020 is released. However, I have no desire to invest in a new sim that requires hundred, if not thousands, of additional dollars to achieve a realistic environment/flying experience.  I can’t imagine there are many simmers willing to invest heavily into V5 until they have more fatality on MSFS2020.  I could be wrong; yet, anecdotally i have lost all interest in ESP...MSFS 2020 previews have been that good...

I hear you!!!!

But there's o telling how "Sim-like" the new MSFS is going to be... I'm not getting my hopes up, just yet, since they mentioned it's going to be on Xbox as well.

Besides, it will take several years before there are suitable add-ons for it.  Just look how long it's taken Devs to release add-ons for FSX/P3d?

I plan to use the hell out of P3d for several years after the new MSFS is released because I will need my PMDG A/C and Orbx sceneries and have no desire to go back to MSFS stock alike AP's no matter how much better they may be!

It is fun trying to read the tea leaves but I really think most of our questions have already been answered. Those answers have never been clear in this forum or any forum for that matter. They never will be because  we have such a diverse group of users of flight sim products. They vary from guys wanting to pretend to fly on their "sale" phones to folks who are seeking to buy a 747 cockpit from a salvage yard (sprinkle $150,000 US over it....Go fly) and all points in between. There is plenty of reason to hope that MS will this time come out with something more than just another rendition of "Flight". The truth is they have a history trying to pull some past duds out of the fire and add a little bit of lipstick and shove it out the door once again. So lets cut to the real question here. Just comparing MS to LM, who is most likely to continue forward with new tech for flight sims. Choice 1 MS who is using a product to show case a new xbox thingy and can scrap the project and only loose a tiny market or LM who is developing and selling Prepar3d as part of multi billion dollar space, military, and commercial air contracts just to mention a few. Like everything else these days all you have to do is follow the money trail. Is it time to stop flying P3D and cleaning those hard drives for the new Sim? I don't think so!! Does that mean that MSFS20?? will be bad or fail...no not at all. Will it be the Sim of your dreams with tons of scenery and add on 3rd party aircraft by next Christmas? Not likely for the current P3d user.

Prepar3d is NOT a part of  a "multi billion dollar" enterprise of any sort. I bet far more efforts and resources are allocated by LM on the F-35 helmet alone, and by several folds!

There is no much point in comparing the two products parents and deducing anything based on that. In the overall perspective the importance of a flight sim project for LM is much much smaller than it might be for a software house.

My spidey sense is telling me that something MAY come out after Labor Day weekend.  It will be great if it was released before Labor Day Weekend by LM.

I was browsing through Orbx forums (especially the Orbx Central support section) - reading some of the post about the upcoming big changes on the way Central handles sceneries made me think.

I could be wrong or I am right.

As I stated this is a rumor thread
