Do you know what 'assume' means? For Jason's blog

If you guessed "makes an '####' out of 'u' and 'me'", then you're right! Not naming names here, but continuing comments about the new FS being merely a patch to FS9 without seeing a feature list and assuming they are not working on performance, flight dynamics, wx, and other areas, and only concentrating on 'eye candy', are merely assumptions, therefore you are making an #### out of you and me.We go through this every time with each new version, so you all need to understand that you have only seen round 1 folks. The funniest thing is that alot of people here also think that the graphics they are seeing in the screenies are as far as they're going to go as well. We have no information to the contrary on that issue either folks. All I'm saying folks, is we may not get everything we want or need in this version, but I seems like so far we're getting most of what we want. We know there are still very important issues that we're still waiting to see whether or not they have changed. The other point I wanted to mention is that we've seen an unprecidented amount of cooperation between the FS team and the community, and if you've read the FAQ's (which most of you missed that little detail about airports and aircraft) there's going to even be an even better and more detailed level of cooperation between MS and the developers that has never before been seen.Speculation is all fun and good, but if they're posted in a fashion that assumes rather than asked, then you are doing the above mentioned item. So which do you want to be? We're not asking that you kiss up, but if you've got an issue, try not be so rude about it.As always, thanks for playing.John, you can pin this little disclaimer if you like...lol

I'm new here but i've been following avsim and the other forums for a long time. I agree with what you have stated but the bottom line for me and its only my opinion is from viewing the pictures from FSX it doesn't blow my mind, it basically looks like FS9 with a few more features which honestly could have come with a update or add-on. I don't see a reason to go out and spend $1500+ on a machine to run a game which has the same graphics with a few tweaks. It might be easy for Microsoft to create a game which only runs smooth on a high end machine which Microsoft can afford but for the average person its hard to go buy a $1500+ just to run one piece of software which honestly looks like FS9. And looking at the other games coming out and the graphics it doesn't make FSX look all that interesting. I'm not taking anything away from the FS team but I feel that Microsoft didn't push the envelope with FSX. I don't see any major reason to go out and upgrade my computer, lose all my beautiful add-on's to run FSX. I might down the road but for now i'll sit back and wait to see what FSX has to offer. My words might come back to haunt me but again it's my personal opinion from the shots i've seen so far.

"777" or whatever your name is. Sorry. It's ok to have your opinion on this. I ask you if first, how do you know you'll need to upgrade your system? If you're running high end games now, then what makes you think you'd need to upgrade for FSX? If you feel you need to upgrade then surely there must be other reasons such as pure want or whatever.Second: Based on the pics you've seen surely you can tell a major difference from 'stock' FS9 (remove your addons then tell me). What makes you think that the graphics you've seen are completed. How do you know there aren't more filters and environment maps to be shown? We appreciate your opinions certainly, but my feelings on this 'round 1' is that there is still much to be shown, and I would definatley not make final conclusions as of yet.Thanks.

Gee, thanks, Jeff. You make it so easy. From now on, all the rest of us have to do is sit back and wait for you to let us know what we think about FS X.Good to know which opinions matter and which don

Charlie,I did think I specifically stated that it's ok to have an opinion--right?If we're going to have a discussion than let's have it from both sides, right. There's no sense in getting bent out of shape and getting mad at each other.

It is an inflammatory post and you reap what you sow.

Ok mate, we'll be thinking of you, when your comming in to land following a cluster of Soar jets with 12 FPS. Meanwhile, we will be comming in, with ultra smooth frames, crossing hives of busy traffic below, watching flocks of seagulls fly off and landing on a beautifully relected rain soaked runway. Following the car to the gate, baggage carts and trucks will gather as the jetway extends to the door. Have it YOUR way.....John.

>I agree with what you have stated but...You agree but... Obviously the fact that you've seen less than 1% of the content of FSX didn't register...

Wow, it amazes me how many people see a few screenshots and automatically assume this is it. The projected release date is the end of next year, leaving approximately 7-10 months? of development and feature implementation. I believe the original post in this thread nails it, too many people are assuming. One suggestion is to read the developers blogs, in other words, ignore the hearsay and get the word directly from the horses mouth. I do understand the need to speculate, but speculation would be more productive in the form of constructive discussion. Obviuosly the developers of this product are viewing these forums to see initial reaction, to get a guage of what the consumer would like to see in their product, what the users deem most important.I too believe it looks like FS9, with UT and FSgenesis mesh, approximately 100 dollars worth of addons. I don't see birds or 3d vehicles moving in FS9 though. I haven't seen the flight dynamics, weather dynamics, atc, airports or runways, weather effects etc, but I'm going to wager a guess that they may put these things back in the sim? Maybe, maybe not, but I just don't have that information, though from the blogs, they do seem to be working on them. The thing to keep in mind is that there is more than one developer working on this, my guess also is they are working closely with add-on developers, just a guess though. So, patience will hopefully prevail until the next slew of information is released, if not, then I'll enjoy all the assuming and rebuttals to that assuming with a wry smile upon my face. Having 6 children one learns the art of patience.Ian.

IanThis is my take :-) None of us know what will or will not be featured in FSX as it is still 9 months to a year off.We in these forums are hardcore simmers and not Joe Bloggs in the street who the sim is designed mainly for.The MS team are enthusiasts too and I am sure given a free hand would probably lean more towards what we want from the sim.We have a choose. Do nothing! say nothing and what we recieve is what we get.The other option is to say what we want from the sim in the vague hope that maybe something might be put in at this stage in the development cycle.Example I do not know how MS are going to deal with weather. As a real world pilot weather is an important feature for me.There have been scores of posts asking for a more real weather engine in MSFS.Just maybe MS were only going to adjust the existing weather a little. Reading all the demands in these forums for better weather they might just decide to go one further and make a real feature of weather. The same goes for all other areas of the sim.Give out a good idea and who knows it could be added. Give out nothing and you will get ???NOW is the time to make demands as long as they are positive, because a few months down the line when everything is set in stone its too late.Peter

Absolutely agree, positive discussion is the way to go. With that said, statements judging from unknown information doesn't help in a mature discussion of the desired features for the current version in development. Stating one is not going to buy the product, or that it doesn't live up to ones expectations because it doesn't implement this feature or that feature is useless speculation based on the limited amount of information realeased as of this time. But to each his own, and I believe hardily in free speech, but it serves no purpose in regards to developer understanding of the needs of the community. Now, if we find out with the next informational release that the weather system will remain the same, then at that point I agree that those who were hoping for a revision of the current system would voice there disagreement with that decision and would be able validate an updated weather system with intelligent argument. Saying you are not going to buy the product or MS is not a good company wouldn't sway me if I were developing the product :). I'm hoping I didn't give the impression not to give feedback or voice an opinion, my main point is it is too early to judge the product without knowing exactly which features have been revamped. I do think the wishlist threads have been done, and I do believe people are putting what they hope are in it, but to any developer reading this, ATC, Weather, and sloped runways are what I am demanding be implemented or upgraded :).
