What would be the easiest way to inject possible failures?

I want to be able to inject a percentage of something failing when I'm flight simming. 

I know there is a random failure(s) within x amount of seconds but that only goes to 600 seconds if I recall which is only 10 minutes.

I don't know how to program but I'm wondering what would be the easiest language to learn to do something like this?

I'm considering maybe LUA with FSUIPC? (I have the registered version) this would be for P3d v4.5

I get failures and its FSCaptain thats doing it, minor to major

I use FSCaptain for every flight, logging everything.

Several airliners have this programmed in and are adjustable.  PMDG, MaddogX, Dash 8 Q400 Professional, just to name a few.
