NoRichard does a LOT of work to turn the raw data into something the FMS can use.But in reality - the number of changes are relatively small for each cycle. And the FS world you are flying in is at least four years old - and the FSX world will be 18 months old the day it is released.Of course if it is your destination airport which has changed...It might have an impact if you are flying on line with VATSIM.But for most people updating each cycle is not a requirement, though a nice practice.Just because you need to save money right now is not a reason to have your flight simming will be any less enjoyable. We all have to watch our wallets on occasion.

There a discussion about that very thing on VATSIM right now which I've repsonded to.http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=12393 I've decided to unofficially take the lead to try and find a viable solution through Jepp's because DAFIF to begin with was actually just a stop gap solution good mainly for US flyers. In short it will be a major long shot to try and get a good solution to fit both freeware flight planning sites such as simroutes.com and freeware developers as well as payware developers and the end user of both freeware and payware. It's something I'm still having a hard time formulating into somthing I can actually approach Jepp with to try and get something that won't cost the end user anything of free flight planning sites that don't actually see or use the data on their system and then come up with something that people who buy payware with "Jepps on Board" can afford without having to shell out $35.00/month for each cycle.$35.00/month may not seem like much alone to have 100% all the data and proceudres, but try and sell that with and already 34.95 aircraft. Not really that easy. For freeware it may be easier because the community can probably find people to donate the yearly amount to them so they don't have to eat it all themselves but for payware it's a totally different situation.Anyways, I plan on calling them tomm., hopefully if I get the time, and hopefully they don't laugh at me. This will be round 2 with them after about 4 years the first time. The good news is that you can get updates right off their server, the bad news is we don't need it in that format for each type of GPS or LNAV device, etc., so I'm going to have to coax them somehow for raw data alone.Anyways, that's enough rambling here folks....give me alot of time on this one...lol. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated to say the least. :-)
