Customer needs feedback on PTA Compat. 4.5 HF2

I wonder how people can expect all addons to be compatible from day 1 or 2 after an P3d update or hotfix ?

Many - if not most, developers are making addons and tools in their sparetime, and has a normal job, family and other stuff to take care off.

Just a small update - I had it working and ready to release but last minute found a issue with another tweak as a result of fixing one of the changed ones. This is gonna put things back a small while whilst I fix it.

Thanks for the update Matt. 

In the meantime I have applied my Preset and it shows no issues with P3Dv4.5 HF2.

To be sure I did not Reinstall default Shaders as they are still P3Dv4.5 HF1

Hi, I'm not sure but I have updated to H.Fix 2 client only which I asume installs default shaders as per P3DV4.5 H.F. 2, I went ahead and applied my preset that I was using with H.F 1 P.T.A 2.66 and I have no errors at all, all applied with no issues 🤔, is it something system specific, what would the non compatible sections of P.T.A 2.66 with P3DV4.5 H.F 2 be? and thanks for the heads up Matt can't fly without P.T.A.

@doublebubble If you're going from HF1 > HF2 (or whatever the older version was called), you'll be fine. It's only causing errors for people who are starting from scratch as PTA doesn't have a way of "bridging" the gap between the older shaders & the newer changed ones. In terms of what has changed, surprisingly nothing in terms of actual physical logic, they just decided to rewrite and optimise some of the shader code. The way PTA works from a core point of view is quite simple: it looks for the section of the shader that you want to be tweaked and simply does an overwrite with the values that you have specified. The moment those default values get changed (even down to adding spaces/tabs), the entire logic breaks as it can only work with exact matches.

I hope that makes sense, It's 8am here and I'm still awake from yesterday so everything is just a bit of a mush at the moment 🙂

Mine Pta works Fine in HF2, no errors.

im only use cloud, haze, ralleigh settings, and these Works with hf2.

In order not to have my simulator grounded I've migrated to Tomato, I applied every single PTA setting into it but the results are kinda different, now I'm not sure if there's some intrinsic difference or it's due to the modified shaders that LM has implemented in this latest release.

Correct. As I mentioned, there was a small delay. I am juggling lots of things at once so today was the only chance I had to properly test it and publish it, which i've now done.

You can now update to 2.67.

Yeah, that's what screwed me last week when I assumed it was just a straight forward update... that'll teach me. All fixed now though, feel free to update to the latest version.
