What are the example airports/locations payware or default? in the initial screenshots ... I will have a look in my setup

If you are using a shader mod program like PTA, Envshade, or Tomatoshade, that could be it.  In PTA I had to adjust the terrain lighting and terrain saturation, specifically the ambient sunlight ratio and diffuse sunlight ratio values.

What values did you use?

If it's not Bloom, then I would look at your monitor setting Howard. Google calibration and do it in a very dark room. Gammer, brightness or contrast need adjusting.

Hmm, well, it is a possibility Dave, but that would affect all sceneris, and it doesn't, it only affects photo textures.

Hi Vaughan, all are addons. 1) Malaga 2) Gibraltar 3) Ibiza 4) Heraklion. I can't remember the individual devs, but they are all Aerosoft. I have also notice dit with freeware Spain photoscenery and other sceneries.

Bob, no PTA or Envshade. The issue was apparent straight from the initial install. I did in fact install Envshade later, to see if it would improve the situation but in fact, as expected, it exasperated things.

I do not have the Aerosoft ( 1) Malaga 2) Gibraltar 3) Ibiza 4) Heraklion. ) .

But I took a look at the default Gibraltar and it was ok on my setup.

This is the reason why I have made Monthly PTA presets.

June has the less terrain Lighting and december the most. The vid at the bottom is from October with FranceVFR PR scenery.

Hi Jim: Nope. Not restricted to Aerosoft. Happens in MegasceneryEarth as well as other photoscenery developers. I am running P3D on a color calibrated 43" 4k TV. It has to be a P3D issue since this didn't happen until 4.3 and onwards.

Have you tried changing some settings in the nvidia control panel, like gamma etc.?

Thanks Rhett, but that would simply change everything. The issue is specific to one particular type of scenery.

I thought that at one time, but it's across the board. All photosceneries. Paid and freeware.

Correct, it was fine, at least in my experience with all versions apart from 4.4 and 4.5. I may be wrong, but I can't remember it being an issue in 4.3

Hi Howard: The problem is especially severe in desert areas. Rather than looking like a tan desert, it looks like snow 😞

It used to be fine (I fly in predominately desert areas being in Tucson, so I know what it is supposed to look like) then something changed in 4.4 (or maybe 4.3). They are way overexposed. If I try to turn down the HDR brightness, everything gets dark but the desert is back..... I've also tried turning off HDR with no success.

Apparently, one can't get LM's attention to this. PTA doesn't -- with any preset (such as Adam's or Gerald's) -- help unless there is a setting for desert areas I don't know about. If anybody is a graphics expert, I am willing to try any suggestions. I would like to see what the photoscenery looks like outside of P3D -- is there anyway to convert a bgl to a viewable graphics format or directly display the bgl outside of P3D? Screen shots on request of the problem.

Look in the /texture folder of the photoscenery (that may *not* be the P3D/texture subfolder) and you may find the texture file(s) in question.  If normal paint programs do not open them, you can always download GIMP and any plugins it requires, and view the textures that way.

They had to change rendering techniques when introducing PBR in 4.4. Most things play nice with it as there is hybrid rendering for conventional and PBR content, but color pallets that are being used by photosceneries don't. These issues need to be addressed by addon developers. There is nothing that can be done on end user side.
