VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

I tried opening the 64 bit version of PSXT, and got the following message:

The code extension cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the program may fix this problem

The 32 bit one, however, does not display this error, and runs fine.  What could be the problem here?  I tried running it as an administrator and got the same issue.  I checked my C:\Windows\System32 folder and saw a file called VCRUNTIME140.dll, but nothing with an "_1" at he end.  How do I fix this error?  As a general rule, I don't like messing with files in this directory unless I know exactly what I'm getting into.

Regards,

Kevin Davis

Hi Kevin,

See the PSXT_FAQ # 11

And for your convenience, in the Manual section1.1 reads:

"  You need Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019. The standalone installers for x86 (VC_redist.x86.exe) and x64 (VC_redist.x64.exe) can be downloaded here at Microsoft."

You need the x64 version.

Hi,

I saw that section in the manual.  My Visual C++ Redistributable versions are up to date.  I confirmed that using Microsoft's installer.  What's confusing about this is that I'd think that neither the 32 nor 64 bit versions of PSXT would run if It was an error with Visual C++ Redistributable.

I don't think that's true, while you wrote that you missed the VCRUNTIME140_1.dll file ...
You better download and install the latest 2019 version, at least it will not hurt.

That's because they depend on different files. You do seem to have the one that is needed for the 32 bit version.
