Do you currently use VR in your current flight sim?

Do you currently use VR for your flight sim?

  1. 1. With all of the discussion on VR being included in Flight Simulator, how many people currently use VR?

I authored the poll.  I actually like the poll responses and seeing the opinions.  Some get defensive, some get offensive, some make fun of those people, even when those people don't realize it!

It's just a simple poll with a simple Yes/No response.

I'm personally curious about VR.  The MS folks have stated that VR was the #1 request that they've received.  This was surprising to me.  To each his own with VR.  I haven't done it.  I'm neither for it nor against it until I try it.  The poll is an unscientific means to quantify people actually using VR.  Often, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.  We shall see if this is true or not.

I think the activity might be good for Avsim. Have you seen how quite it gets around here when no one is arguing?😀

That is interesting, wonder where MS got that data point from?   Steam indicates VR usage is microscopic ... < 4% as I recall.

Cheers, Rob.

Rob - I don't know and wondered the same thing.  They said that having Seasons was a close 2nd.  I believe AI and ATC were also requests they mentioned.  I listened to two different interviews and heard the same things mentioned.

Probably from the phony poll from last time that was spammed from reddit vr communities

There was a time when only 10% of people in the Western world had mobile phones.

Yep. And VR will eventually morph into sunglasses size. Apple will jump in and, suddenly it will be okay for the masses to jump in.

Interesting ... I would have thought non-flat runways (as in easy to develop and works with AI) would have been at the top as I know that's been requested many times for P3D.  Not sure what you mean by AI (AI aircraft) ... is that not planned for initial release or is that coming in a later update?

Cheers, Rob.

Yes AI aircraft.

I believe that non-flat runways are already incorporated, so they were mentioning items that were likely not developed yet, but I'm not sure.

It’s also possible that they are targeting a feature set that only loosely is focusing on incorporating things the P3D users may have wanted.

I’m sure their goal is to dramatically grow the userbase from where it has been the last decade in their absence. All the growth is going to be primarily on the mainstream side because actual diehard simulator users never really left for the most part.

I would expect that goal to skew some of their decision-making away from what the core audience on this forum may want all the time.

I don't know, but it would be quite a spectacle.

Eventually it might go even further.
