Missing AI Traffic

Recommended Posts

Somehow I have lost all AI Traffic in my P3Dv4.5. Evan if I select 100% there is nothing. The road and airport service traffic is working, but there are no AI aircraft on the ground or in the air. I must have dome something to some file somewhere, but do not remember doing so. Any suggestions? I also posted this in the P3D forum, but sometimes I get better results here.
Thanks
Howard

Maybe you have somewhere an active FS9type flight plan/traffic file. This would kill all FSX/P3D based traffic.

This computer never had FS9 on it, but I will look if you can be more specific as to what the file name might start with?

Thanks

It has nothing to do with FS9 per se, but some older add-ons which were not made exclusively for P3D may include local ai traffic (boats or planes) which can cause ai issues. There was a small tool which can check this for you. I have it on my system somewhere but I can't find it right now - too much folders, too much files.

Check in Scenery\World\Scenery scroll to the bottom and see if you have TrafficAircraft.bgl still, if you use addon traffic this may be turned off.

@Stratocruiser1 If the above suggestions don't resolve your issue check in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 for the simobjects.cfg file. It may be corrupted or missing the entry for the AI.

As a last resort delete the config file then run  client repair, you will have to reapply your settings after you first run the sim.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, there is a file trafficaircraft.bgl and it is turned off by ORBX. There are several same type files from ORBX and they are mostly all turned off too. I had added the ORBX traffic so that has caused the problem. A friend of mine has the same ORBX stuff and he also has the same problem. We are going to the ORBX site for help. I will let you know how we resolve this.

Thanks

The ORBX traffic is in the proper format and won't cause your traffic to disappear. Have you gone to other airports around the world to check?

Also, having an fs9 traffic file won't cause your traffic to disappear everywhere. It only affects the area that the fs9 traffic file is displaying traffic.

What traffic system do you have, or is it default?

Orbx will only do AI traffic In Australia or PNW, depending on which you installed. It will clear all AI traffic in the rest of the world.

The ORBX traffic is formatted for FSX. Even if it was formatted for FS9, it wouldn't eliminate all traffic in the sim, just in those areas that overlap FSX traffic and your current location (your traffic bubble).

I did this and found a lot of FTX and ORBX traffic files and the default traffic file that had this added to the end of the file name. "Turned off by FTX". I removed this from the file name.

I also remembered that I had installed FTX traffic back when we were using P3Dv3 and I see that there is a different one for v4 and I can't remember if I made a new install for P3Dv4,so I uninstalled FTX in Vector, then I deleted all the FTX and Orbx traffic files from the Scenery\world\scenery file.

I started P3D and set my aircraft traffic sliders at 75% and now I have traffic. I am going to do a new download for FTX traffic from ORBX and select the P3Dv4 file and see how that works. Now that we know how to go back to default, I don’t think I will hurt anything.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help.
