Featured Replies

Just uploaded my newest project, McGhee Tyson Airport which serves Knoxville, Tennessee. A break from the highly detailed stuff but should provide enough for you short regional flyers ;).RegardsShez

Thanks!I wish I knew you were working on TYS - I have some photos I took for reference a few years ago to do the same thing. I moved out of the area, and lost interest in completing it. I also have CAD files I made up, and a hi-res aerial photo of the airport grounds generously donated by the surveyors located across Alcoa highway.Derek

I wish I knew. I was looking for a photoreal background but could not find one. How big is the file? Maybe you could send it to me and I could upgrade this version.Shez

I'll see if I can find it - funny enough, I moved from Knoxville to the Philly area a few years ago, and am now in the process of moving BACK to Knoxville. All of my backups are packed right now, but the moving truck is due next week. I'll try and find them ASAP though. The aerial was a 11 x 17 transparency that I had to find a backlit scanner to scan - when I did, I scanned it at some insanely high DPI, but I had to scan it in sections because the bed was not big enough. You may need to color correct and stitch it togeter. The aerial is about 5 years old.DerekOh - if you want a short but sweet project to work on as well, I CADded up DKX (Downtown Island) at the same time - the buildings are all modelled, but I haven't textured them. I have a LOT more reference photos for that airport...

Can CAD be used in GMAX?Shez

I used Autocad - I can give it to you in .dxf or .3ds format, which will import just fine. For DKX I actually created some bgls from GMax of the scenery just to see if it worked - no problems, just no textures!Derek

OK send it across and will see if I have some free time and I can put it together. Send the pics of course. If you have a photoreal background then send also. shez(at)attglobal(dot)netShez

Is there a way to delete the static general aviation planes in the scenery (without changing the scenery density)? I have my own general aviation AI and I want to use those spaces.PS: Thanks for this cool little scenery!

No they are part of the scenery. Why not adjust the AFCAD instead?Shez

I really would like to check this out but my PC crashed :(

Love the airport! Thank you very much for another great freeware addon! Regional aiports need attention too! This airport is a great stopover for my flights from Buffalo down to the south!

>Why not adjust the AFCAD>instead?>>ShezThat's what I will do. :) It's just a bit wierd seeing 2 of the same liveries on a plane (one a static plane and one a regular GA plane). I already seen a gulfstream there with the same livery as one of the static gulfstreams in the scenery. :-lol
