Somehow I managed to put the 750 window in the 530 window

Recommended Posts

Hello, X-Plane 11.36, Lancair Legacy FG v11, I somehow I managed to put the RXP GTN 750 window in the stock GNS530 window instead of replacing the 530. ini file below. Obviously I missed something. Can you tell me what I need to change?

Hi,

Is you question: can you tel me how to remove the GNS bezel from the cockpit so that I can display the entire GTN instead?

If this is the case, it might not be so simple to do but it is feasible nonetheless (manually, takes time). There are a number of discussions already in the forum about this, and such integrations done already with a few aircraft like the King Air 350, at X-Plane.org. This could be a good starting point.

Unfortunately, beyond manually editing the aircraft 3D model, the X-Plane SDK doesn't offer any mean for third party developers to add 3D interactive objects at runtime. We've been asking for ages but they have been quite busy with the Vulkan port for a while too.

Thank you Jean-Luc - I've downloaded some peoples's other solutions as an example to follow, and now I see there's so much to it with edited obj files and a whole lot more.

I was thinking if I just properly edited the RealityXP.GTN.ini I could replace the bezel and the whole GNS, but the amount of work required is beyond me, so I'll let this go.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Side Note: Every morning I'm prompted to update the Reality XP software, which I think I've done, but the pop-up continues. Can you point me to instructions of properly updating the software or making the alert quit?

It is easy to check: in the sim, use the "Check for Updates...", it tells you which version you are running and which version is available, if there is an update.

When you do 'accept' the update, it downloads a .zip file with the latest e-commerce installers but it won't install them. You'd have to manually go to the download folder and double click to unzip, then double click the e-commerce installer. From there you'd have to follow the "REINSTALL" procedure/button (detailed in our store FAQ).
