The 900 were very much a rarity upon the NGX's release and even now it's mostly 900ERs that have sold (do PMDG even make a 900ER?) The 747 is the exception, and perhaps only because the 747-8 was ready significantly later than the QOTSII base release (and furthermore I think they only included the -400 engine variants because they were included with QOTS1, they've suggested not doing "classic" 777-300 and -200ER on the basis of the number of engine variants). But being told I "pad out with falsehoods" is exactly the response I expected from the PMDG faithful, for they can do no wrong in the eyes of some. Nice try, but the -800 (5104 delivered) and the -900 (557 delivered) covers 82% of the 737NG fleet. By contrast, there were only 1167 737-700 and 69 737-600 models delivered. Your assertion that PMDG's "usual trick" of producing the least popular variant as the base model is a falsehood. The 737NG and 747 add-ons both came to market with the *most* popular variant included in the base product. The 777 was actually the singular exception. October 29, 20196 yr Something I've been wondering about: is the development of the SDK 100 percent Microsoft's task, so that when it's finished it's handed over to the third-party developers as a fait accompli? Or is it a collaborative process in which at least some of the majors will be invited to participate? Purely from a business perspective, I could see the value in asking some developers what they'd need in the SDK to accomplish what they need to. That would have the added benefit of accelerating the arrival of third-party content. All this is of course speculation on my part. But I'm not sure "there's no SDK, therefore it's a three-year lead time to third-party content" should be taken as definiitve. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

October 29, 20196 yr @w6kd As of September 2019 all orders (including unfulfilled and excluding the BBJs) stood at 6,941 of which: 1167 (17%) 700 series, 5148 (74%) 800 series, 52 (1%) 900 , 505 (7%) 900ER So PMDG split the two most popular variants, 700 and 800, across the base and an expansion. If they'd have sold the 700+800 as the base, I doubt many would've bothered with a 600+900 expansion. Whilst not quite the same as making the least common the base, it's a similar strategy. You said "PMDG's usual trick is to make the least popular variant the base model" That's a demonstrably false statement (more of an accusation, really), and that's what I called you on. The fact that they produced an expansion with the much less popular -700 after including the most popular -800 (by more than a 4-to-1 margin) in the base product is a different discussion, but it does not change the fact that what you said is not true.
