MSFS Subscription or Purchase?

Not at the moment it`s now in Beta XCloud game streaming service, expected to be up and running before MSFS is released we will have wait and see, I have one PC game pass £3.99 month not the 15-20 that some are talking about.

What?

Game Pass, by Microsoft, (for Xbox or PC) is a just subscription service that offers games that you download/install and play on your PC (or Xbox). No streaming.

The service simply offers a catalog of games for doing the above, but no game actually requires you to have this subscription for anything if you buy the game separately.

Even Steam with EA games now going down the subscription route.

The same with game pass you will not need a subscription to buy a game or MSFS but it may be a requirement if you want to stream data in real time instead of downloading. We will have to wait and see only MS know.

Ok, not to be rude, but I think you are clearly confusing what these "subscription" services are...

- The service does not add anything to a game, and is definitely not required to play *any* game.

- Both Microsoft0s Game Pass and EA's EA Access are something completely different. It's "as if" they were "game rental" services...

- As long as you have an active subscription, you can download and play any games in their catalog. Once you decide to not be a member anymore, you lose access to these games.

- If you do not want to subscribe to anything, you simply buy the game(s) you want from whatever store they are sold at (physicallt or digitally) and the game is yours forever and you can play normally, without need to subscribe to anything,

Is it clear now?

P.S.: Also that "EA Access" thing is not really "news"... That service has been around for quite some time now. What that article says is  that now their subscription service will also be offered *through steam*

Do not confuse XCLOUD with the present Xbox system or game pass it`s not live yet but should be by the time MSFS is released.

PS what is AZURE a new type of CPU or GPU no it`s streaming cloud servers place around the world.

Yes and it`s what powers the new XCLOUD for project scarlet, and MSFS powered by AZURE AI but until they come clean on how it will be delivered and what the three version are we don't know, it may have a full streaming version that may and I say just may require game pass to run it we will have to wait and see, but you are not forced to just use one of the other versions.

Them asking you to use game pass to have access to the azure stuff doesn't make much sense. The vast majority of the cost of Game Pass to MS is paying publishers to have their games in the program. They recently revealed that this has cost them over one billion dollars. I'm pretty sure operating costs are a drop in the bucket by comparison. We've gotten more clues from MS that they won't be going the sub route than anything suggesting they will. "No Subscription", "We don't want it". Yet here we are...

No, Just like MS it will cost you a subscription if you want to play online on the Xbox, and if you play on PC it would be free like ALL online play for PC games from all companies is.. (And again, assuming there is an "on-line" component to begin with....

Again you are confusing the extra/streaming services these companies are providing with just buying and playing games as a separate item.

Lets wait and see as they don't have a streaming service up and running at the moment it`s still in the testing stage.

I'm a little worried about the future. MS has mentioned once briefly not to want a subscription. At the same time, the project is supposed to run for 10 years.

If the project is no longer profitable after 3 years, they could turn off the servers. Do we have any benefit then? Can we continue playing then?

As someone who is basically subscribed to everything you can be subscribed to (it’s a problem), I’m pretty sure it will work like this:

option 1 - buy and download the game outright, then it’s yours to play forever.

option 2 - subscribe to ‘basic’ game pass and have access to download and play hundreds of games if you want them. When you stop subscribing then you can’t play the games (this is what I have now for game pass and origin).

option 3 - subscribe to game pass +, and have access to download OR STREAM the game pass library. This would suit people who don’t want to wait for downloads, don’t have the space for lots of downloads, play two minutes of games and move on, etc.

its a little bit like the way Spotify free and premium works just with different benefits. This is just speculation and they may have confirmed it doesn’t work like this by now, but it’s more logical than some of the confused madness above.

I guess the minimum will be the ability to continue playing the offline version. Companies turning servers off has been a risk for a while now though. Ultimately they don’t really owe gamers anything and are unlikely to keep throwing money at something if it doesn’t make them any money. I think msfs will be successful though
