October 31, 20196 yr Ladies & Gentlemen, this will be epic and nothing else but epic! Jarrad Marshall announced on ORBX forum two hours ago: (see the whole blog here: Introducing TrueEarth US Northern California HD & SD for X-Plane 11 ) Quote Jarrad Marshall: Our most ambitious project to date sees us take the next step in bringing more of the X-Plane world to life with our TrueEarth range of products. TrueEarth US Northern California is the result of years of research and development as well as countless hours of crafting together one of the most stunning and diverse regions in North America. Ha, what a coincidence! Barely yesterday I flew over San Francisco in XP11 and was thinking: " Man, this scenery needs a complete overhaul and someone serious who is making the best out of it ". Thank you ORBX; it seems you have heard my thoughts . But of course its not only about San Francisco and its suburbs...... After release there should be two versions available: One HD (212 GB) and one SD (53 GB) versoin. Cheers and all the best. Edited October 31, 20196 yr by KBUR
October 31, 20196 yr The thing that sets Orbx TE regions apart (besides the ortho colour correction and perfect overlays), is the sheer amount of bespoke PBR POI models. I mean just look at what they showed as just a snippet of what is in the SanFran tile alone !!

November 1, 20196 yr Orbx has it all wrong in California. Where is all the fires? California is turning into charred earth and no electricity. And Orbx is too expensive for me.

November 2, 20196 yr California's glory days were in the 1950's . Now, California is packed with people and is very expensive place to live. Enjoy your view from your simulator, because there are very few days California has clear skies like your screenshots. You need to go visit California and see if I am right. LOL.

My opinions are based on growing up in CA and observing the beautiful middle class state turn into third world state/country. After Dad moving the family from Phoenix, our family set up in the Valley, Van Nuys, Encino, North Hollywood, and finally Bel Air. I have great memories as a young pre-teen, and teen of living in California in the 60's. I am very much looking forward to this release, to then fly over the very areas that will serve up those great memories....like for instance, flying over and above Cold Water Canyon, that took us from the Valley, over to Zuma Beach, where I practically grew up upon! Played there in the surf, surfed, ate fresh caught Conch, terrorized Santa Monica Pier with the rest of we Valley Heads...lol. Orbx...bring those memories back...and the countdown starts...lol! First Northern Cali...(where dad, on Pier 19, had the barber give me my first 'naval' haircut, before we toured the boats)..., and then the Los Angeles Basin...HOOZA! Let's leave the present condition, and political views, outta the conversation....so..what are the GOOD memories of living or visiting Cali, that you wish to add to the thread, while we wait....? November 6, 20196 yr Moderator I've removed a pile of political posts. Despite what people may think of the state of California, this is a flight simming forum and we come here to escape all this, so please stop it otherwise the thread will be locked

I was still a young man of 24 when I first started flying into California. I was flying on what was a small fleet at the time with only a couple of routes, and I was only rostered on the longest routes as a relief pilot, this meant LAX and SFO, constantly for 2 years. It was 3 days in California followed by 3 days off in the U.K. then back to California again constantly, it soon became my second, or really first home, my “local” regular pub was not in the U.K. where I lived but was o’rielly’s bar , green street ,SAN Francisco. From my previous years of flight simming, I had randomly made Livermore airport my base for some reason, when I first flew to SFO for real everything was amazingly familiar. Remember those printed black and white scenery area maps that used to come with flight simulator ? I’d spent hours studying those and flying my sim Cessna over VORs that were to me ,magical almost mystical places in a far away land, PYE , SAU,SFO, CCR etc. To actually fly into SFO for the first time and see these VORs come up on the aircraft’s ND was an amazing experience. A bit like using VR for the first time when all of a sudden your flight sim world turns into reality. We used to stay in the Chinatown (Marriott I think it was at the time) this ,it was soon pointed out to me by the captain was the hotel , with its rooftop pool , that featured in the opening scenes of Dirty Harry. The hotel provided us with a crew room with magnificent views over the bay. We’d all meet for a drink after work then head down to the Mona Lisa restaurant on Columbus for dinner. The next day we’d hire bikes and ride over the bridge to Sausalito for lunch and come back on the ferry. Happy, happy days. 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
