Just got Env Force - Config/setup/use recommendations?

Recommended Posts

So I decided to get Rex's environment force care of their fall sale - and Im just wondering - whats the best way to use it?  I know there's a post on using sky force with AS and ASCA ect - but is there something similar for this?  From what I understand this would be a replacement for ASCA - so I'd use something like ASP4 for weather, and Skyforce and Env force for everything else?  Or am I just way off base on what apps do what these days?

Oof - wish I started reading this sooner.  Seems like theres still quite some issues.  Either way - I at least have it in the arsenal incase I want to install.

Edit: so I've been reading this post over 10 pages deep now and I'm more confused than ever.  I feel like we need another guide to include the EF options lol.

Its really quite simple. Install Skyforce, then install Environmentforce.

Then only open Environmentforce as it will interact with Skyforce automatically. Just use automatic mode (default)

Next start P3d and prepare to be amazed.

Been using it for months no problems.

If you don't like what you see initially there are many options that can be changed or you can simply download a new theme right there in the program. ENJOY!

What would I need to do with ASP4/ASCA?  Thats the part that's jamming me up.  I feel like EF is a replacement for ASCA, but I keep reading people are using ASP4/ASCA/SF/EF all together, but then some posts contradict so I end up not sure which way to go.

You're strictly utilizing SF's weather engine?  How well does it work?  I only know Active skys offerings as they've been pretty much the standard for as long as I've been in simming.

So for now I'm running ASP4, SF and EF, disabling ASCA (as it seemed redundant).  From some quick previews it looks pretty good.  Ill give it a go tomorrow to see what differences I notice on a full flight.

You can either disable ASCA (I just renamed its folder), or you can retain ASCA for its sky colours and effects. Just uncheck the ASCA cloud options because EF will be using SF's cloud textures (SF doesn't need to be running).

ASP4 will still be controlling the actual weather. EF is just responsible for rendering the clouds.

Oh, in that case I probably turned its sky options off in favour of ASCA.

Personal preferences I suppose.

I stopped using EF as it was costing some performance in P3D.

Just an FYI,

since the updates about 2 months ago I am not seeing the hit on FPS as it did when first released.

Yes only SF and EF. It's very cool flying and seeing the clouds slowly dissipate in front of you.
