Forum performance?

Hi,

Is there an issue with the forum performance?
Since a week or so, the forum is extremely slow, like 15-20+ sec to open pages etc.

Browsing from the Netherlands (NL) and from several locations.

It was reported to the AVSIM Tech yesterday.

Here in Portugal. Sometimes like you say (20+ seconds), sometimes lightning fast.

I came here specifically to report the slowness. Page can take ages, and sometimes posting to the forum can take 30-40 seconds

I thought at first the site was being DDOSed

This happens normally on occasion.  By the time I pass the issues to the AVSIM tech, the site is back to normal.

I passed your issue to the AVSIM Tech.  Sometimes, if we have a lot of guests and members on-board (usually 1200 or more), it slows down the site.  The site gets almost 2 million hits a month from visitors and members.

Wow, 2 million... would not have guessed... Seems like the same folks posting over and over... We need others to get more involved... Maybe the MSFS2020 will bring more participation. 

It does seem a little slow lately, just thought it was the new ads.

Every time there is a new release, the site gets really busy.  I think FS2020 will definitely cause a lot of new memberships and visits to AVSIM.  We hope all of them donate at least $5. 😎

Forum access remains slow from here in the UK at 09:30GMT when the US is asleep.

Is anyone seeing any improvements? Took me 1 min to post a reply and it's been pretty slow most of the time.

For me, the site is running fast.  When the site slows, I'll report the issue to the AVSIM Tech to make sure he is aware of the problem.  Moments later the site is running great again and he'll wonder what I'm talking about.  Then, 15 minutes later it is super slow.  Brian, the AVSIM Tech, continues to look for the cause.  It is really killing the Moderating Team as they have to move around the site at a high rate and it's no fun trying to open up a topic and then trying to close it to move on to another.  It's like looking in the VC of a payware aircraft that takes up a lot of resources.  Look one way and the performance drops.  Look in another way the performance is the best ever.  AVSIM is committed on having a site with great performance especially when using the forums.  We will continue to monitor the performance and hopefully find a fix soon!  Hang in there and thanks for your patience.
