Error downloading wind data

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm running v2.4.4 on P3D v4.5 via WideFS. LNM has been fine for ages but today I keep getting "Error downloading wind data. Connection closed." messages. I can still access the folder containing current_wx_snapshot.txt from the WideFS PC so that doesn't appear to be the problem.

I suspect Windows 10 security but AS16 is running so difficult to know where to look.

Hi Alex,

That's odd because I don't have NOAA selected. Just Active Sky. And if I press Test against NOAA in Oprions-Weather it successfully returns the latest ATIS report.

Ah, the NOAA Wind Service Base URL Test returns a Connection Closed message. I'll just have to be patient. At least LNM is fine.

Thanks Alex. Let’s hope it was a rare glitch.

Hi Alex,

Just to let you know the NOAA wind is not available again. I've cleared the path to their server as a work-around.

Hmmm. I've cleared the path but the message still pops up.

Yep. Download via webbrowser (https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/filter_gfs_1p00.pl?file=gfs.t12z.pgrb2.1p00.anl&lev_80_m_above_ground=on&lev_150_mb=on&lev_200_mb=on&lev_250_mb=on&lev_300_mb=on&lev_450_mb=on&lev_700_mb=on&var_UGRD=on&var_VGRD=on&dir=%2Fgfs.20191113%2F12) also failing.

I have to change the error dialog so, that it shows up only once per session.

Disabling wind download in the menu should help. The dialog can still show up once if there is a stalled request in the background.

Edit: Just in case one deleted it without remembering the URL: The original NOAA wind URL is:

https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/filter_gfs_1p00.pl

Thanks Alex. I've just pasted your link and it reported success. Hopefully it stays that way.

This two year old problem raised by Ray Proudfoot has just popped up on my LNM in the last few days....anyone else have it again recently? When I do test both the NOAA server and weather, I get positive results...so, what gives? Thanks...

Sherm

I am getting  this all the time.

It Is not clear for me what should I delete from where in LMN to fix this.
