[Resolved] Landing Lights and Strobes in Professional

Recommended Posts

Simbol

I have all my AI planes in a separate directory in the main Simobjects folder. AIRLP seems to scan them all fine, as I can see the amendments made to the aircraft.cfg

However, I cannot seem to get the Airbus double flashing strobes to work on the FAIB Airbuses? Get single ones. The ATC_TYPE is set correctly in all the .cfgs and I have converted back to the _NWF models. the old DJC airbus models do deliver double strobes. I also seem to get double strobes on my HTAI cessnas!

The landing lights are even more hit and miss. In preview mode, I can't get any nose gear landing lights showing on the "Aircraft on final" even when applying the 200% increase to the texture size.

On the FAIB Boeings, the landing lights don't work on thee 737-200, they do work on all the other 737's, but they don't work on any of the 767's. The light attachment for the main landing gear entry, including the fx file used is identical as between the 737-200 and 737-300 FAIB models having inspected them in MCX, so can't quite figure.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot further? How are the landing lights and strobes driven from the aircraft.cfg entries? The Navs and Beacons are obvious in the [LIGHTS] section.

Best regards

All our tests with FAIB NWF work fine, double strobes on the wing and the tail single strobe.

Post your FAIB General section and light section before being parsed by AILRP to see how it is configured.

GA aviation can have double strobes if they have the effects attached via 3DS, it is what I  call a fallback effect.

I can't comment on these models without inspection. If a model doesn't have the landing lights installed as per P3D SDK they will not work. Even without AI Lights Reborn installed.

Some models attach lights at the front but only for taxi, others for both while others don't. Some models are compiled for FSX giving some weird behavior, some for P3D.

AIGM is the best to install these models as the tool checks all these parameters are correct and the .mdls are configured for P3D.

S.

These are the key parts of my FAIB A321 CFM:

[General]
atc_type=AIRBUS

Category=airplane

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.2 = 2, -77.801,   0.00,  4.645, fx_FAIB_A321_strobe
light.3 = 3, -77.801,   0.00,  4.645, fx_FAIB_A321_navwhi
light.4 = 2, -14.023, -55.505,  2.871, fx_FAIB_A321_strobe

light.8=5, 0.09, -7.01, -3.778, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow // shockwave landing light
light.9=5, 0.09, 7.01, -3.778, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow // shockwave landing light
light.10=5, 50.5, -0.71, -5.463, fx_shockwave_landing_light_a321_nose // shockwave landing light
light.11=6, 50.5, 0.706, -5.463, fx_shockwave_landing_light_a321_nose // shockwave taxi light
light.12=5, 47.5, 0, -16.463, fx_shockwave_landing_light_light

I can't get the landing lights to show from distance on any of the FAIB Airbuses and some have double strobes and some single. All of the A321 variants have single strobes only.

Ok zip your A321 with only one variant so I can test it tomorrow. Send it to support@fsreborn.com

In the meantime, do you use the expert interface? And do you use FLAI, BVAI or anything else that could be causing an effect conflict via their. Xml declaration?

Check also if you have another addon injecting halos.bmp. This can cause a conflict with landing lights in general. The only halo.bmp present in you system should be the P3D defaults and mines.

For an instance if your FAIB models don't show any landing lights, it means they will not do so even without AILRP. So it could be their. Mdl are corrupted, have you been modifying them via MCX?

Simbol

Hi Rob,

I received your files, your FAIB A321 has the center tank number one disabled which will cause the AI model to behave outside of the scope of P3D SDK.

j96JqpQ.jpg

FAIB models implemented some features trying to overcome FSX / P3D Lighting behaviours prior the existence of AI Lights Reborn professional edition. As per instructions inside FAIB A321 readme file, you can control certain lighting events via the center tanks.. I quote the readme below:

Quote

**** NEW NEW NEW FOR FSX & P3DV4 ****
The "off" state of logo, cabin and navigation lights is now set using the aircraft.cfg fuel section
enable a 1 gallon Center2 fuel tank to have logo lights remain always on.
enable a 1 gallon Center3 fuel tank to have cabin lights remain always on.
enable a 1 gallon External1 fuel tank to have navigation lights remain always on.

FSX/P3DV4 models now feature custom light splashes for landing and taxi lights.
You can switch between the dynamic lights and custom lights by adding or removing the "Center1" fuel tank in the aircraft.cfg.

Since your have disabled Center1, the AI model is not firing the normal lights effects despite of these being configured correctly. Please enable Center tank 1 again to resolve your issue.

This will be the same case with many other FAIB models, each model has it own readme file for instruction and it is important to read these before installing them, etc. This is one of the reasons why I recommend using AIGM-OCI as this AI package have been double checked by @Kaiii3 and Chris in order to ensure there are not miss configuration issues as above.

Kind Regards,
Simbol

Many thanks Simbol - spot on. the Center1 line needs to be active and then AIRLP deliver the correct strobe config and landing lights.

I have looked through the aircraft configuration SDK for P3dV4.4. How do you know which lines have to be in for a .cfg file to be compliant for AIRLP?

The RavenAI Embraers have the same problem as I had with FAIB except that they do have the Center1 line in the [fuel] section active.

Best regards

Very long time studying P3D SDK and lots of different AI packages, + experience and lots and lots of feedback from over 30 different Beta testers during 7+ months of beta testing....

Please note the center tank only fix applies to FAIB models as explained inside their readme,txt.

Regarding RavenAI, are your sure they have been compiled for P3D 4.x? if you give me a link I can download them and analyse what is going on.

In the meantime can I mark this subject as resolved? we can open another for the RavenAI.

Simbol

I have just noticed that three of my four FAIB A318 folders do not include the Center fuel tank "switches" for lights. Fortunately, the only one that I have repaints for (the CFM version) does include them! All of the other A319/320/321 models have the correct format in the aircraft.cfg file...

Checked all my A318,19,20,21 FAIB model folders, all their aircraft.cfg's contain the fuel tank "switches" for lights (also all 4 A318). Maybe yr 3 x 318s are not P3DV4?

1st line of all my cfg's read (like theexample A320 here)

Having used the preview on all my FAIB Airbus now post the CenterFuelTank correction, they all show landing lights as anticipated. However, only the A320CFM and A320IAE show the twin strobes on the wing and single one on the tail. All other variants show single strobe in both the preview and the sim. Any further ideas? Do you want me to attach the aircraft.CFG foe on of the variants that does work as intended and one that does not?

Hello Simbol,

would be interested in the result of yr findings then.

tks, Andreas

Sure I will post them as usual here via Forums.

You need to see these files as "source" as sometimes silly things as the "encoding" of the file might be causing the issue. So this is why I ask them sometimes via email, it is just in order to properly troubleshoot, etc.

** UPDATE **

Hi Rob,

I found the problem.. there is a bug on my source code when I am trying to determine which strobe is the tail strobe (which should flash once) this is causing all the strobes to become single a flash.

I will need to update my code. But in the meantime this is the work around:
  1. Restore your original AI Lights via my config panel.
  2. Edit the A320 aircraft lights and ensure the tail strobe is declared last. Example:

    Original

    light.0=1, 5.998, 0.00, -5.835, fx_FAIB_A320S_beacon
    light.1=1, 3.718, 0.00, 8.5, fx_FAIB_A320S_beacon
    light.2=2, -69.63, 0.00, 4.645, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe ----> TAIL it is the one further at the back from the front Z value is the most negative.
    light.3=3, -69.63, 0.00, 4.645, fx_FAIB_A320S_navwhi
    light.4=2, -15.513, -57.521, 4.08, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe
    light.5=2, -15.513, 57.521, 4.08, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe
    light.6=3, -13.642, -55.906, 3.014, fx_FAIB_A320S_navred
    light.7=3, -13.642, 55.906, 3.014, fx_FAIB_A320S_navgre

    Replace by the light section by:

    light.0=1, 5.998, 0.00, -5.835, fx_FAIB_A320S_beacon
    light.1=1, 3.718, 0.00, 8.5, fx_FAIB_A320S_beacon
    light.2=3, -69.63, 0.00, 4.645, fx_FAIB_A320S_navwhi
    light.3=2, -15.513, -57.521, 4.08, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe
    light.4=2, -15.513, 57.521, 4.08, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe
    light.5=2, -69.63, 0.00, 4.645, fx_FAIB_A320S_strobe ----> TAIL
    light.6=3, -13.642, -55.906, 3.014, fx_FAIB_A320S_navred
    light.7=3, -13.642, 55.906, 3.014, fx_FAIB_A320S_navgre

  3. Re-scan your models.
This will make them work as instented. I will work on my source code this week in order to avoid this issue in the future...

Simbol
