Additional Questions on P8 Compass in Tiger Moth

Now understand how the P8 Compass works, after reading the description in the Pilots Handbook, but have additional question.  If I set my course and turn to it the gauge reads as it should...however if I then want to change course (for a second leg of a flight) it still shows direction to original course.  I can't find any way to get it to indicate to the new course.  Any idea how more than one course can be used?

Also, question on autopilot...If I set a heading the Tiger Moth will either turn hard left or right and end up about 70 degrees or so off the set heading.  Any ideas?
