FS9 reloading by itself in the middle of the flight...

Featured Replies

This just started happening a few days ago, I take off (happens in a variety of aircraft) after about 10 minutes of flying my screen goes dark for a second and then the terrain and the AI and the weather reload, almost as if I had adjusted the time or changed the level of AI. The thing is it happens randomly. While it does do more than disrupt my flight for a few seconds, it just about gives me a heart attack as I think the sim has crashed. Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated!!! Thnx!!

I don't think there is anything to fix, sounds to me like your simply moving into a new scenery area or crossing over into a new timezone. FS doesn't handle the timezone change very well as you can be flying in the early evening, cross over a timeszone and find yourself back in bright sunlight again.

That's probably the infamous timezone crossing bug.... Sometimes it adjusts the local time, which is correct and doesn't cause interruption. Somtimes it adjusts the zulu clock, which is wrong, and causes the sim to reload the textures and AI traffic to adjust for the new time. The only way to ensure that you arrive at the correct zulu time when crossing timezones is to watch for the sim changing the zulu time when crossing a timezone, then go into the set time/date dialog and fix the zulu time to put the zulu back to correct time and thereby resetting the local time to the correct time for the new timezone...I really hope this is fixed in FSX, this bug has infested both FS2002 and FS9 and is really annoying.......
