Trimming problems...force feedback required?

Recommended Posts

Newbie here.I am having some serious problem trimming my plane because I am not using a force feedback wheel. I cannot feel when the backpressure should be released.Do most people use a stick with force feedback?I am currently using the cyborg evo non force feedback.thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "wheel". It is still possible to know when to apply trim simply by the fact that you need to hold the flight stick/joystick BACK and setting trim will allow you to release the back pressure with the trim set to the speed you desire for the climb or angle...Best,Randy J. you dont go by "feel" in the sim...you go by your gauges (altimeter, vertical speed indicator and airspeed). You use the trim and throttle together to help the plane maintain whatever pitch angle, descent/ascent rate, or airspeed you want...but you have to get used to doing it only by reading your gauges or even looking out the window if thats easier in the beginning for you...you will not feel anything.Dave

I have a MS sidewinder FF Joystick, also use FSforce in fs9.With this combination You can "feel" what trim input you need to maintain level flight or to fly at a chosen attitude.John

Same as John. It takes force feedback routed through FS Force to get correct trim response in the sim. AFAIK there are no force feedback yokes, and the yokes that are out there are tensioned by springs that are unaffected by in-game actions, so you'll never trim out the forces in the simulator that way.Trim by the altimeter, it's the best alternative. Couple of ways to ease trimming that worked for me:1. Get a Saitak x52 and map it's mouse wheel to trim. !!!!!2. Find RealTrim in the library here.
