I don't for the life of me understand why people don't install SP2... Same deal with the .NET framework, it's like everyone thinks that patches and fixes are actually bad things.

I have a couple of legacy apps that will not run nor reinstall under SP2.While some people maintain that SP2 was just security variations there were changes apparently in the API (like COM32 library objects) that some apps could not handle.I have hardware and software security devices so I'm not too worried. I use Firefox most of the time and do not have to worry about holes in IE.
