Hindu Kush Rollercoaster

Recommended Posts

The Hindu Kush is the westernmost extension of the Himalaya. It lies mostly in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

We depart from Kunduz (OAUZ), Afghanistan and head south. The first landing will be at the Bagram Airbase (OAIX), Afghanistan. From there it is just a short hop to Kabul Intl. (OAKB), Afghanistan's Capitol City. The next stop will be Parachinar (OPPC), Pakistan. Another short hop over the mountains will take us to Jalalabad (OAJL), Pakistan. We continue south-east, overfly the famous Khyber Pass and land at Peshawar Intl. (OPPS), Pakistan. The next stop will be Islamabad Intl (OPIS), Pakistan's Capitol City. After climbing again over the mountains we will reach today's destination Srinagar (VISR), India.

You will find a narrative and the flight plans here.

Aircraft:

The route is 455 NM and requires seven landings and some climbing. We should use a fast airplane. We use only well-equipped airports, so I recommend a smaller airliner like the Majestic Dash8 Q 400 or any other airplane with a speed of about 200 kts. For the Q400 or similar planes I calculated some extra time for departure and arrival procedures. I will fly the Q400 in the FedEx livery.

Scenery:

ORBX Global and Vector are recommended, a good Mesh is also advisable. I use FreeMesh X and have not found any better Mesh for the Afghanistan-Pakistan area.

There are freeware sceneries for most airports available. Some show the usual deficiencies when using FSX sceneries in P3D, but they enhance the stock airports. Some smaller plateaus seem to be unavoidable.

We should try to use real wx. If that is too bad (happens quite often in that area) we could switch to the wx of Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 09:30 UTC.

For our departure, please set your simulator clocks to 1345 local time.

I see my Spicejet somewhat in the right part of the world, a Polish airline that has lost it's way. Obviously not using his GTN750! AND a Russian desperately looking for snow 'n' ice and not having much luck.

How am I going so far.

Close.. ( but so true.. The Russian 410 is on lease by the FSB, hauling the "kush" to fund clandestine operations in the area )
What happens when your are flying in multiplayer, not in a Q400, but other players are?
