Hybrid Cockpit: The Setup Ep1 // Xplane VR Zibo737-700

Thought this might be interesting for some.....

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Thanks for posting. It’s always good to see other people’s setups.

My comments:

- The repeated failure of the voice recognition to respond to a simple  command was a bit like Elon Musk/Cybertruck.:)

- The mini wireless keyboard is good, i might get one.

- ”Hey, let’s change the EFIS range...” (smashes controller into the yoke box for the 10th time this flight).

- the idea of the platform to transmit vibrations and hold rudder pedals in place is a good one. I’m thinking of building one over the holidays.

- the overall idea is pretty dumb. It’s a lot of work for a set of panels that you can’t see and which have no function. You actually want the opposite - clear space where you’re reaching with your touch controllers for the center panel/overhead, so you can reach with confidence rather than smashing your controller into a slightly-misplaced physical barrier. I’ve actually tried this ’hybrid’-type approach quite a few times - i love the Zibo, and I have a Simworld 737 dual-seat trainer (with the advantage of actually having a gear lever, CDU etc that actually work). Long story short, the physical hardware detracts rather than adds from the VR experience. The exceptions are the yoke/sidestick, pedals, pilot seat (!) and possibly the throttles - i recommend having those as physical items.

Cheers!
