GTN750/650 Prepar3dv4.5 Does not work! (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I recently bougt the RealityXP GTN750/650 from the official website. After installing the setup, I tried to get it to work with my GA Aircraft Addons (A2A Cherokee 180 & Carenado Beech Bonanza F33A) which as a result wasn't that succesful.

When I tried to install it in the Carenado Bonanza, the GTN650 Unit just stays black, even as i switcht in the configuration-UI to "always on" and the imigration of the Unit in the Panal doesn't look very good and I have absolutly no idea, how to change or configurize that (even after I read the Manual PDF).

As I Tried to put the Unit into the A2A Cherokee I first had nearly the same problem like in the Bonanza, until I looked around in Forums where I found a solution how to fix that Problem at an A2A Comanche (https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/532649-gtn-750-for-the-a2a-250-comanche/). After I read his changes, which he did in the files, I made exactly the same changes in my files for the A2A Cherokee aswell. The changes were only about deleting the "F1" infornt of the "GTN750" and repalce it by "rxp". I launched my Sim and first was happy, cause the GTN750 Unit was working now, but sadly now some of the switches in the Cockpit aswell as the A2A "Panel Views" (Like Hangar view, refill view, etc.) wern't working any longer.

I hope someone has some similar problems. Here also some screenshots, maybe it helps to understand my problem. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xp2nuts6akwlh9k/AAD-yYPaM1l6V0rV_ZWXpe-Ba?dl=0

If someone from RealityXP reads this: I'm disappoinoted of the GTN750/650! Especially because on the Website is written how easy the installation is and that it works with any aircraft... And also the Manual doesn't give that much help by installation cause it only shows you what windows you can open and what the different tick-boxes stand for (which is kind of obvious but anyway).

I hope someone of you can help me, cause if not I will try to refund it, because I don't have that much knowledge when it comes to such programming things :/

Thanks:)

@stayyn
The Carenado F33A doesn't allow for the GTN 650 to be installed. That's why you see the Carenado GNS 430 knobs. That's one of Carenado's older products and didn't allow for 3rd party gauges.

The link you provided above is for the Comanche.
As for the A2A Cherokee 180 go here: A2A Cherokee 180 configuration for the GTN 650/750. Go to the bottom of the page. From there download A2A180_RXP_GTN.zip. At the upper right side of the Dropbox page is the download button.

That is not accurate.. you can remove the 3d knobs in the F33, and the GTN650 will work nicely.

Okay I completly reinstalled the A2A Cherokee and followed the instructions in the post you sent me. Now the GTN750 is integrated totaly fine in my A2A Cherokee, but now there are now Waypoints, VORs, NDBs, Airports so at all absolutly no NavData.

Do you have an idea how I can fix that?

Thanks so far! 🙂

Have you tried reinstalling? Also the GTN trainer? http://download.garmin.com/software/GarminTrainerSetup_2400.exe

There is a "For Customization" folder in your F33 folder.

Choose the no 3d knobs model.

@Bert Pieke

First thanks for your respond! I’ll remove this 3d knobs for sure!

But it won‘t solve my main problem that the screen stays totally black, even if I go to the UI and say „always on“.

Do you have also an idea of that? Would be great! 🙂

Can you post the contents of the panel.cfg from the Carenado Bonanza?

I reinstalled now everything so the A2A Cherokee aswell as the RXP GTN/750 but it still got no Navdata 😕. Otherwise it works totally fine with the Plane. Whene I go at the GTN750 to Utilities → Logs → Flight Data Log, it says in the MSG window "Flight data log export failed".

Do you have an idea on how to fix that?

Thanks!

Did you do a custom installation of either the RXP product or of the Garmin Trainer.  i.e. custom location?

I also found out that in the direction C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Databases there's no files in the logs oder logs_ext folder. Is this normal?

@fppilot

Yes I changed the recommended dircection of the Garmin Trainer from my C-Drive to the D-Drive on which also my simulator (P3d) is installed. So the Garmin Trainer, the RXP Folder aswell as Prepar3d is on the same drive.

If I open the Garmin Trainer. the GTN works totally fine with the NavData and so on, but sadly not in my simulator.
