I hope not

Hello, I hope developers don't stop making addons for Fso9. I have no desire to switch to FSX. Have computer and everything setup perfect for Fs09. Have invested a ton of money already. I know after awhile, Fs09 will probally fade but I'll hang on for a couple of years. This is personal opinion and I wonder if there are many who feel the same way? Thank you.

I'm with you on this one... From the sounds of it many developers 'were' planning on switching once FSX came out. As you can see we haven't had performance issues to this degree (with any new version of FS) in quite some time and the expectation was yes all sliders can't be maxed on the new sim but everyone should be able to run it with a decent performance and appearance. Sadly that's not the case with FSX and hopefully developers take note. I think FlyTampa will lead the way in keeping FS9 projects on the table. The whole reason why KLGA wasn't done by them was because of the frame hit in FS9 over the New York area. Aces informed FlyTampa (and others) things would be fixed in the next version of FS. Low and behold the whole FSX world performs worse than the NYC area in FS9. Cloud9 opted a month ago to release info their releasing an FSX only Orlando Intl... Stupid move if they go ahead with this. Their airport will have to have zero framerate hit to have any hope of selling. That's unrealistic for any add-on. I guess we'll have to see who does what. FSX is a real let down for the add-on community looking to move forward. If performance doesn't get under control no one will be able to use FSX with add-ons until hardware catches up...

Same deal with PMDG's MD-11. They all but stated it'll be an FSX package only, but judging from the comments about FSX's poor performance, I seriously doubt I'll be purchasing it at all.The only way things will improve for FSX payware is if Vista and future hardware does indeed bring FSX up to a playable level with add ons, but I'm not holding my breath given all I've heard from ACES developers. Also, it's been reported the payware companies will have to purchase a verification certificate yearly for some odd reason, so that's just another cost passed on to us.Keep in mind, I don't find this current trend to be all that similar to previous editions either. With previous versions of FS, you were forced to lower settings (sliders) to get the sim to run well, but it could be done without any problems. Even add ons usually played along with newer computers. With FSX, people who have top of the line systems are getting very pathetic performance, even with sliders turned down or off, and nothing but default installations.

For me, since my copy will be here in a couple weeks or so, I'll find out then whatever I need to do to make it work. But having said that, I know that time marches on and what was near top of the line eqpt a year or so ago just isn't now. And FWIW, games of all kinds have pushed the eqpt envelop since pooter games began. Would you have time stand still and no newer games come out? TANSTAAFL!:D

HHHHHMMMMMM i wonder if the folks still using 98 say the same thing. people said the same thing about cell phones ,people said the same thing about 8 tracks.people said the same thing about newer cars with computers in them.whats great about this is it is up to you to use whatever you like.but the problem is when Fs9 gets older and older and perhaps FS11 will then come out, what will you do then. Me i am a tech nut and i will keep up with the new so i can stay sharp.hardcore simmer.......Robert
