OLD Comm Port PFC stuff

Does anyone know if there will be any support for the old PFC equipment thats comm port based?

Since Pete Dowson wrote the PFC serial drivers, he'd be the guy to ask. 

It's probably too early for him to have any idea if FSUIPC and/or PFC drivers would be feasible in SimZilla.

Hi Bob, how did you do the custom hall sensors on the throttles? I have the PFC Cirrus II and have refitted the aileron and elevator pots,trying to figure out the throttles,but since they are slide pots,this is going to be challenging. I am also going to re route all the switches and buttons to my Leo Bodnar board.

I built two "piers" out of small brass square tubing that have three 1/2" neodymium N52 magnets cemented on them.  One pier goes above/across the front of the pot slider travel, the other over and across the back end of the pot.  I fabricated some extensions to the pot sliders, also from brass tubing, and each pot slider extension holds an Allegro A1324 HE chip up in a line between one of the pairs of magnets.  The HE sensors for axis 1-2 travel between the leftmost pair of magnets, axis 3-4 the middle pair, and 5-6 the rightmost pair.  By moving the sensors between the N pole of one and S pole of the other magnet, you get a semi-linear response for the axis.  The HE sensor outputs go to a Leo Bodnar BU0836X USB board.

It works very well, but it was a real project getting the magnet piers positioned at the right spacing to produce a workable and linear output throughout the pot sliders' ~1.1" range.

If I were to do it all over, I think I'd use an MXL belt under spring tension to turn a pulley on a 90-deg rotary sensor mounted behind the rack of pots.  Basically I'd attach one end of the belt to the pot slider, run it back and over the pulley, and down to a spring anchored to the cabinet bottom.
