Correct way to add FSX payware scenery to P3Dv4

Recommended Posts

I have tried to add various scenery's to P3Dv4.4 such as FSX Taxi2Gate KMCO Orlando and LTBA Istanbul or Aerosoft Munich and get only jetways and no terminals or rest of scenery. I have tried both XML and scenery cfg method with same result. I have tried Lorby's tool but same problem. Granted these scenery's were for FSX but should work in P3Dv4

Why? There is no guarantee that they are compatible at all, and IMHO it is perfectly normal that parts are missing or non-functional.

My own strategy is usually to install them separately, link them to P3D with an addon package and then tinker with the layering. But if textures, mesh or models are incompatible, there is nothing you can do (except for converting the offending assets manually).

Make sure to check P3D's content error log too, it might contain clues to incompatible things.

Best regards

Some FSX scenery works OK, and some doesn't.

LTBA needed a bunch of textures added to the main P3D texture directory to work without black buildings, as I recall, and KMCO needed some ADE work to remove the default taxi signage.  And both have several scenery areas that need to be added and layered in the correct order.

Hi,

To add: I just tried the old Aerosoft EDDM - ground and large parts of the terminals are invisible. That IMO is not because of a layering issue, but an inherent incompatibility. Looks like either model or texture issues, which is not something that can be fixed by layering or installing it some other way.

Best regards

Thanks for your replies. It seems that most payware is waiting to see what happens with MSFS 2020. Sad Right now P3D4+ is a beautiful platform
