how to pronounce Pilatus

Recommended Posts

This has been driving me nuts ever since I got this plane which was when it was released.

Is it:

1  PILL - LAY - TUHS

or

2  PILL - LAH - TUHS

or

3 something else entirely

if #3 then what is it?

Ciao!

2. It's a mountain in Switzerland and the Pilatus company is very close to it.

I've always used #2. That's how I've always heard the namesake mountain in Switzerland pronounced.

The Swiss would say:   Pee-lah-toos

Speaking English, I would say: Pi-lah-tuhs

😉

They are headquartered in Stans, Switzerland.  It's so nice that they used my nickname to name their town.
