P3d Display Resolution

The 2080Ti is the cutting edge right now, and priced accordingly at a significant premium.  The rest of your system is three generations old now.  So if you're contemplating upgrading the CPU/mobo/RAM in the near future, lead-turning that with a 2080Ti now may make sense.  If not, the 2080Ti is a real overmatch to the rest of the system.  It'll work just fine, but your 6700K will not push it hard enough to exploit its capabilities, especially at a resolution below 4K.

What cpu/mobo/ram would you suggest to pair with the 2080?  I’ve never done anything like that so I’m not sure how I would even install it, ha! I suppose I’d need a bigger hard drive too while I’m at it!

Messing around with a few things I found that with the attached settings, I got smooth frames but awful graphics.  The streets and rivers were very jagged.  I checked the performance and the cpu and gpu were between 80-90 and occasionally spiked to 100.  I was using 3440 resolution so I can keep messing around and scale back but from what I am seeing I think I would need a new card.

Any thoughts?

What happens if you bump up AA one step at a time? At what point does it peg up the gpu?

So i had another flight this afternoon.  Same settings as above but I tried 2xSSAA.  Everything felt very smooth and the FPS were in the 20's the enter flight.  However, getting closer to the airport (KSFO), I was getting very weird textures.  See below.  I have never had this before.  However, it was a very smooth, studder free flight.  The streets were "thick and blocky" and black textures were showing.  I use Orbx, but not Vector

Do you think I have a bad setting somewhere or are those pics the results of a poor GPU?  The settings I have seem pretty conservative so I’m not sure why it looks so poor.  I also did a night flight last night into KORD and didn’t notice any odd textures.  However, since it was night it just might have been hard to see

Anyone know what these textures could be from ?  Thanks

Looks more like lack of textures to me.  Are you monitoring your VRAM usage when this happens?  Do you have a (low) FFTF setting in your config?

Pardon my ignorance but what is FFTF?

FFTF=FiberFrameTimeFraction

If you didn't explicitly set it in your Prepar3D.cfg, then the setting won't appear in the config file and it internally defaults to 0.33.

Then no, I don't think I have that.  I messed around with the .cfg at one point but didn't notice any differences so I just went back to my original .cfg.

Also, would a 2080 TI be recommended for my system?   I know I have some testing to do to see where my bottle necks are but not being technical, I was not sure if something in my set up would prohibit me from using the 2080ti

I run a GTX 970 - settings maxed out, Traffic at 90% and rarely see less than 35FPS, normally 50-60.

You may have other setting issues, or too much junk on the sim

FFTF is definitely worth having and only costs about £15.

I fly Photoreal Scenery all over Europe and the West USA states, and sometimes in very fast military jets.

I have FFTF set as follows:

AGL Range Feet = 0 to 4000

FFTF Range = 0.15 to 0.33

I never get the blurries or missing textures, or texture popping, not at any speed or altitude.

Once last week I forgot to load FFTF and immediately had blurries all over the place.

Oh and everything here is on multiple SSD drives. No spinners in the system. This definitely helps.
