P3d4 and Mega Scenery Earth

Recommended Posts

I recently went from FSX to P3D4 because of the 32bit vs 64bit and I have found that MSE works horse ****** in P3D4.  had no problems with FSX and my old Video card.  Upgraded to the GTX-970 and I thought all was well.  Works good when not using MSE but when using MSE lots of blurriness, water don't look good, seasons will not change (always winter) and colors are way off from what they should be.  Is there a simple setting setup that I can use to get MSE to work??

Seasons don't change -- there is only one, generally summer. How are you getting multiple seasons?

You are on P3D 4.5 HF2?

What are your graphic settings?

Use ORBX?

Any shader modifications (like PTA, EF, etc)?

Ok, I think that P3D4 is not the problem here  I am thinking that Mega Scenery Earth  is the problem and possibly the way it was installed. I installed it by clicking on add area, pointed it to external hard drive where my scenery's are installed selected Minnesota v3 2017 and bingo, there it was.  I seem to recall somewhere where it said I needed to use a installer or put the scenery package into another folder before installing it into P3D4.  right or wrong, I don't know. In regards to some of your questions here is what I know.

I think the only way any of us are going to be able to help you is if:

- You post some screenshots using a third party image hosting website of your P3D settings, such as this: https://imgur.com/icle51G;

- Link a copy of your scenery.cfg file, or post screenshots of it; and

- Tell us what your PC setup looks like, similar to what people have put in their signatures.

Either your installation of MSE is incorrect, your P3D settings are set too high for your PC, or in the worst case scenario P3D is too much for your PC to handle.

I, or anyone else, will happily assist you once we have further info to diagnose your problems.

You have to be doing something wrong if you are getting DIFFERENT seasons.  And, when I say different, I mean the scenery tiles themselves outside of a 3rd party airport that may have seasons in it.  Unless MSE has done some post-processing on their own now to include seasons, which as far as I know, they do not.  MSE is only using whatever season it was when the satellite that flew over that part of the world took the picture at the time that MSE used said satellite image.  Usually this is summer.  So, if you're seeing snow on the ground but you say you are using MSE, something is wrong in your setup because that is not possible with MSE.

Anisotropic-4X

This is a very low value...

and having the checkbox for World -> "Use high-resolution terrain textures" ticked would be an ideal.

If scenery doesn't load fast enough it gets a case of the blurries and if the sim is paused it would/should catch up eventually. A slow drive and not enough processing power can cause such issues (as others have stated).

This pic is over Big Bear California with BlueSky photo scenery, i also have some megascenery areas and they are about the same (just not in the USA though).

Note: my scenery is located on an M2 NVMe Samsung drive (which is blazingly fast).

I have all the Megascenery USA states and never have any issues.even when I add to the scenery config several states covering the flying areas. MSE works well in P3dv4.5.

i just need an ABQ to be available for P3DV4.  Since I don't fly over it too much.

Try simWest ABQ. It's actually free!

thanks I will.  Wish the airport scenery would come to compliment this also.  But will check it out.

Good to see some love for megascenery here.

Looks great in P3D v4 with VR. Like some of you, i’ve got the complete US set. No problems with a good computer and a decent speed HDD (i find platter drives ok, no need for a ssd though it may help loading times)

Oh, and further to the earlier comments about seasons - i’ve been buying nearly everything that these guys make for years, like almost all orthoscenery products there is no seasonal variation.
