Autogen

Recommended Posts

Hello pilots! Is it possible to get more dense autogen and especially trees? I use ORBX textures, it has all good but not very dense autogen! EVO textures and AFS Mosaic has more dense autogen but I dont want to change textures! What can I do?

There is file from the FS9 glory days available in the library: TreeGen v1.0 which added more trees, but I don't know how its textures will mesh with ORBX.

FS9 is limited in autogen objects. IIRC, the limit is 600 tree objects and 300 buildings per tile (a 1,2 x 1,2 km square). TreeGen's trick is that, where FS9 default shows one tree, TreeGen may show 2 or more. FS9 processes still up to 600 objects, but you can see a lot more than that.

Andreas,

Maybe it would be worth your while to search for "The Natural World" (TNW) by a developer named Howard. I've been using his very good freeware world wide autogen tree textures for FS9 and am very happy with them. However, his product contains much more than just trees.

Good luck and I hope this solves your problem.

Hans, I agree with some of Howard's work. But I would caution installing his autogen buildings, ground textures, or your going to have a lot displaying "DHL" and "TNW" on every generic airport building. Drives me nuts.....

Be careful if you use ultimate terrain and have the lights set to work. They block a heck of a lot of autogen. I only found this out a couple of months ago.

Be aware that several autogen addons set trees where they shouldn't be Here an example of Bear Island at Arctic Circle:

with FS9 ORBX

same place by default

Anyway, just be happy with FS9. With FSX it's even worth - nice cottages, gas oil stations, supermarkets and everything on the same island. Nice for spending holidays there ….

Has anyone figured out in FS9 how to eliminate trees appearing on 3rd party (non-payware) airports blocking taxiways, etc? I've tried everything. The "includes" never work.

Yes, I have (an exclude rectangle with ADE). But that could perhaps be a question for a new topic?

I've been using a small program called "Exclude Maker" for years and it can eliminate all default objects within any selected rectangle within your third party scenery. However, it needs your pointer (possibly an aircraft in slew mode) to be pointed due North and two co-ordinates, one at the North-East corner and the other in the South-West corner. It then creates a bgl file, which can be placed within your problematic third party scenery, after giving it a name of your choice. If it doesn't work as expected, e.g. during testing, then you can just delete the created bgl and try again.

Because of the usage ease of this program I've never used ADE for this purpose and therefore have no experience with it.

Good luck.

Hans
