WAMA reinstallation

Recommended Posts

Hello Oliver,
After I bought a new PC, I started to reinstall all my addons and if possible to transfer the appropriate settings !
With WAMA I did this quite well - I also transferred all logbook entries and saved landings.
But unfortunately the saved flights (links) are missing in the corresponding logbook column !? The directories are all there !
Somehow it seems as if the link between logbook entry and recording file can't be made correctly anymore !
Do you have any idea?

greetings

ggerolamo

kind regards, ggerolamo

Logbook (recordings) or position database (flights)?

Did you change the name of your user account on the new computer?

WAMA uses fully qualified paths, and if your user name is different, then the paths are invalid.

  • The flights files in the position database are easy: just open the "\Documents\WhereAreMyAircraft_P3D_V4 Files\WAMA_Position_DB.xml" in a UTF-8 capable editor and correct the paths.
  • The recordings in the logbook are tricky, because those are in a SQLite database. That is easy for me to correct, but not for you I suppose. If that is the case, I suggest that you send me an email. This can be updated (it is just a database) but I am not sure yet about how to make that work for you.

Best regards

Okay, thanks for the info.

Logbook recordings are the 'problem' !

The installation path is different - I probably have to install SQLite to correct the records (record pathes) !?

Edit: Is the "DB Browser for SQLite" an option ?

That I don't understand. The path where you install WAMA (which you should not change btw.) has nothing to do with the database or the recordings. The recordings always reside in the \Documents\WhereAreMyAircraft_P3D_V4 Files\Recordings folder. The only thing that could give you trouble here is a new name for the user account.

Maybe I misunderstood the problem. What exactly is "missing" where?

Btw. there is nothing to install with SQLite. All you need is a client, like SQLite Studio, then you can access the WAMA_Database.sqlite file.

Yes that's exactly my problem, I have a new PC and a new user account(name) !

In the logbook table the column for the records is empty !

In this case I will try to change the paths for the records in the database...

That is because WAMA can't (or isn't allowed to) see the recording files.

There are two options:

1. if you know your way around the SQL language, you can update the records yourself.

2. You send me an email, and I will add an update feature where you can change the path across all WAMA databases.

Best regards

I'm pretty sure that will be possible somehow !

You mean an update feature in the regular program ?

Maybe this would be a nice addition for me and some others 😉

I made a new version that automatically checks the WAMA database against the current user account. If there is a deviation, you will get a message window where you can agree to migrating the old path to the new path.

Please send me an email so I can provide the link.

Best regards
