Thank you, Federico! 
EF is a stunning add-on that truly enhances the sim experience. That is the reason why I really want it to work and why I stick with it. Let me know if you need any more information. As encouraged by Reed on Discord I also opened a support ticket to make the tracking easier.

Yes, that is probably the best solution for now. But I see my issue rather as a symptom and not as the cause. So there might be more behind it that influenced other features of the software.

In fact, I think that is is the combination of Rex Environment Force and Active Sky for P3D v4, rather than one or the other. The slider in Active Sky does mitigate the problem:
