I am another user like you.  The RXP website is pretty clear.  Each is a separate purchase.  Now that said, you should also recognize that the purchase of an RXP 530 provides you with (2) GNS 530 gauges.  Call them 530_1 and 530_2.  Same if you purchase the RXP 430.  You will have (2) to use, a 430_1 and a 430_2.

That opens a lot of possible uses...

I did not mention how often these RXP gauges are updated/improved.  Not another simulator add-on provider I can identify that is even close.  And user to user assistance is also well in keeping with the spirit of the Avsim community.

My spreadsheet indicates I have a GTN 750 and GTN 650 in a MilViz 310 Redux version panel, and had a GNS 530 and GNS 430 combo in the original Milviz 310.  I have to look for if I have a pair of GNS gauges in the 310 Redux, but I am pretty certain it is easily possible.  Not enough time left to look tonight.  If the space and capability was there in the original Milviz 310, then certainly it would be available for the Redux.

I just looked and MIlviz provides for the Redux a MV_GNS530_430_Panel.cfg file, and that can easily be adapted for RXP GNS.

Give me until sometime tomorrow and I will look to see if I have a setup already for the Redux.

Addendum.  Just looked at my panel.cfg files.  I do have a Redux with a 530 and 430 operating.  Not difficult at all.

Ahem... the challenge actually was to fit two 530s in the C310 panel.. which I do not believe is possible.  The better solution is likely to fit one GNS530 and leave the Milviz 430 as the second unit.

?  Why would a Milviz 430 be preferred over an RXP 430?  The RXP is certainly a more complete simulation.  Just a couple of quick examples: the RXP has the ability to import Garmin spec .fpl flight plans, and the RXP 430 can crossfill to/from the RXP 530.  Also Traffic.  My example below shows a map view of a flight plan on one, and the waypoint list on the other....

Here is the Milviz 310 Redux outfitted with an RXP GNS 530, RXP GNS 430, and the Milviz/REX weather gauge.

That is great if you already own the rxp 430..

The OP only owns the GNS 530, I believe.. and in that case..

I have to say that the only reason I'm trying to persevere with the Milviz C310 is because I paid hard earned for it, but my patience is wearing thin with this mob and their addons. I own just the Reality XP GNS 530 and not the 430. Is there any way to simply install the 530? I've tried pretty much everything including the RXP utility in the addons menu with zero success, the only way I can get the RXP 530 is in a pop up window and that is not my desired outcome as I want to install it in the panel. The Milviz MVAMS will only allow for the installation of both the 530 and the 430 as mentioned here which, in my opinion is the not the brightest of ideas. Is there a solution to this?

Apologies for the slight rant, but I do find everything about Milviz, awkwardly unorthodox.

With thanks

Matthew

I may be wrong here, but it appears to me that Milviz makes available via MVAMS not only the inclusion sets of operating gauges (if you own them), but also a finite set of panel "templates" for lack of a better term.  For example, I just edited the virtual cockpit section of my 530/430 RXP panel.cfg file to remove all reference to the RXP 430.  When I load the 310 Redux with that panel.cfg file the RXP 530 is there, though it sits behind a 530 bezel from Milviz.  Despite removing references to the RXP 430, a GNS 430 still shows in the panel, but of course it is inoperative.

Then, next step, I edited in the Milviz 430 as Bert suggested.  It works, but it has limited function, and to effectively use it requires use of it's pop-up.  The MIlviz GNS 430 also operates differently.  But it is there and displays.

If you open the "hidden contents" window below you will see that I have copied in the panel.cfg file entries for you to look at.  By the way, I recommend if you paste into a message here your own panel.cfg entries that you use the "spoiler" feature to create a window like I did.  Just click on the eyeball icon in the tools area at the top of the message editor.

Spoiler

This is the Vcockpit section from my file where the RXP 530 is in the panel with the Milviz 430.  The GNS gauges are in green text.

My [window##] sections are in blue text further below, but likely do not match the window numbers you may want to assign, or the position of the pop-up gauges you may want.

Agreed.. they do things differently..

Try this: choose the RXP 530 / 430 even though you do not own the 430.

Run the airplane and verify that the 530 works... and the 430 will likely sit there dark..

Then edit the panel.cfg file as Frank suggested, and substitute the Milviz 430 for the RXP 430.

That is exactly what I did.  Have no idea why Milviz did not include configurations with just one GPS.

Thank you Bert and fppilot, the suggestions you've made do bring up the rxp 530 in the panel however not all the knobs are functional for example, the right inner knob that turns the cursor on and off. It controls the cursor OK but it doesn't change the selection within the groups selected by the outer knob. That can only be achieved by bringing up the pop up window where all functions are available. And then that's not even any good to me because I fly VR and that doesn't allow me to access the controls in the pop up window. In my opinion Milviz haven't taken any of these issues into consideration and looks as though I'll be ditching Milviz as a dead loss now and into the future. I've approached Milviz in the past about another issue and found them to be quite dismissive. It's quite funny because one of my favorite planes is the Realair Duke Turbine which as you know was produced a number of years ago and I've had no trouble integrating either the F1 GTN 750/650 or the RXP 530 in to the cockpit. In fact I have two RXP 530's installed and use one expressly for terrain.

Again thank you both for your help

Regards Matthew
