FLAI reinstallation issues

Recommended Posts

Hi again,

now starting from scratch I have tried to move the FLAi content to a separate folder in FSX main folder and made corresponding change to the FSX.cfg - in AIL generator I am pointing at this folder and the xml file created looks OK but running PSX it claim it can not create any liveries….

You wrote:

"Create a folder G:\FLAi  and move your FLAi liveries to there.

in FSX add:

SimObjectsPaths.8=G:\FLAi

In AILG define paths to G:\FLAi  and G:\AiAircraft (if you have liveries in hat folder too)

This way you are very flexible and you you can define in AILG which groups of AI have priority (higher in the folders list).

Later on you can for instance add folders for G:\FSPXAI and G:\FAIB, if you want more liveries."

OK, I have reinstalled FLAI and pointed it to be installed under: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\AI_aircraft

FLAI however create subfolders: "SimObjects" "Airplanes" and then place the different liveries there. I suppose my lining in FSX.cfg is wrong then:

"SimObjectsPaths.9=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\AI_aircraft\SimObjects\Airplanes"

i.e. PSX says "no livery found"

Any clarification appreciated

Hi,

I don't think PSXT says that, I assume you mean "could not be created". That means that the livery is not activated in FSX, and after a while you'll get error 81..

In FSX.cfg you should add:

SimObjectsPaths.9=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\AI_aircraft\SimObjects\Airplanes

Btw why did not you made a folder C:\FLAi ? That is a lot easier. It is not very wise to group all different branches of AI aircraft in one folder.

Unfortunately it does at the end in red! But first it write as you say "could not be created". So something is wrong, probably in the FSX.cfg

I need to look deeper into this. the previous installation worked OK when I had FLAI in the FSX flyable aircraft folder which we didnt want, i.e. had the ordinary FSX.cfg file without adding line-

Will now test to put FLAI directly under C:\

I do not see the text "no livery found" in your Log.txt...

You should fix the "could not be created" messages, by making sure your AI liveries are activated.

Dear Nico, I guess I have found a part solution: The path string was not correct in FSX.cfg due to the uncorrect spelling in earlier messages from other participants which I copied, i.e.

"SimObjectsPaths.9=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\AI_aircraft\SimObjects\Airplanes"  The S shall not be there….

I have now corrected the line in FSX.cfg and the path works! Only one aircraft was not possible to create.

The error occurred already in the post from February 24th. I copied that line from that message. However now it works fine. I will now try to add more Ai aircraft and in particular add the aircraft/livery I am missing. I have a flyable version of it (purchased) but will try to add it to AILGenerator and run, I am however not very clear over the detailed process to have the livery as a part of the xml file. ( Will study in the manual what is critical in terms of ICAO code for the airline in the aircraft config and the aircraft type)

Good to hear you found the problem!

In AILG Manual section 3.4 you can read what info AILG is looking for in the aircraft.cfg file and its [fltsim.x] sections.

You should not use flyable aircraft as AI aircraft.,, There are plentty of good sources of AI aircraft.

See this (above) in your Log.txt.

To fix it, change in the aircraft.cfg file of your user aircraft, in the [General] section

atc_model=CRJ900

into

atc_model=CRJ9

I know but these are as far as I can see not available: Livery "BRA" ( BRX and SCW as ICAO) using type ATR 72-500/600 and AVRO RJ 85 and RJ100

If you cannot find one you better leave it that way, PSXT will try to match with the same type of another airline first, if that does not go it will match with a similar type.
That's always better then using flyable aircraft (for your fps).

Here are some sources:

https://jcai.dk/

https://kyles-ai-works.com/

https://www.juergenbaumbusch.de/

https://flyingcarpet75.com/

https://fsai-repaints.com/

https://muenier.ovh/

https://fsxaibureau.com/

and then you also have complete packages such as from AIG,Traffic Global, UTLive,  ..

Great thanks. My idea to solve the problem with lacking livery was to use the base model from those available and apply the texture from the flying version. But it is tricky and need some thinking. I am also not sure exactly what the AILGenerator exactly look at in respect of ICAO, id, atc etc, it is quite tricky to understand perfectly, It is described but not so easy to understand due to confusing interpretation of the aircraft.cfg

 I will need to dive deep in the manual. Will let you know if I succeed.
