P3D45 - unwanted auto-start upon Windows boot up

Hi all - 

This one is stumping me - but upon Windows 10 startup (from cold boot or warm restart),  & after POST,  P3D starts up - uninvited, unwanted 😞.  

It does not appear in the list of 'startup' programs in the task manager 'startup' tab.  But something is calling Prepar3d.exe unexpectedly.  How do I determine what program or routine is calling prepar3d.exe and change it ?  Is there a registry entry I can edit to stop this from happening ?  Anyone else experienced this ?

Windows does that with all Apps that haven’t been shutdown correctly.

So next time you exit P3D wait at least a minute before you shutdown your pc ...

I second what Gerard says, I usually wait a little before shutting down just so everything can cool back down to idle temps, however the other day I shut down right away as I was running late (flight took a little too long hehe) and the next time a started the computer it went right to P3d. So yeah just wait a little longer before shutting down.

Just a thought. I upvoted Gerrard's post because although we can stop re-emerging programs in Win110, there might still be an issue with the simulator. P3D might not shutdown completely, and that can be caused by some kind of fault in the simulator. A fault which would continue unless traced and fixed. There may be an entry in the details section of Task manager, but no entry in programs running.

I agree with you 100%, unfortunately, this P3D is constantly doing something. 

This software is not properly optimized so when it does it's always something different kind of fault.

A while ago I got tired of this nonsense tracing and trying to fix and adjust, I just turned off this start-up issue.

None of the other sim software I have triggered this kind of behavior.

I hope the new version will be properly optimized or other choices will be available.

Mostly as Gerard said mainly or hopefully it's been shut down too quick and so Win10 restarts stuff left running. But at least that can be shut off, it's nice to know where the Windows settings are. Agreed, could be better handling of problems.

But my point was that I often see 'fixes' that are nothing more than hiding an issue or fault by another way and that was a basic message I was conveying. Hopefully it's just the thing being switched off. But if not then that's a problem unresolved.

Imagine dropping the car off at the garage, explaining the brakes are OK, but over 60mph they seem to be fading. So you pick up the car and are surprised to find they adjusted the engine so you don't go over 60. 😀

Shut down using Atl-F4.  If your in a hurry this makes sure everything is closed before shut down.

If you have GSX then its Control Panel utility is very useful for indicating if P3D has terminated.

Yes, I use this and/or the light from TrackIR. Very useful...
