Ballad of the non-alpha testing FSX re-re install blues

Recommended Posts

(If somebody can work in a dog and a pick-up truck, this might make a good country song.)

I lost my boot device after a Windows 10 update a couple days ago,  and lost my entire re-re-install of FSX and the band of third party stuff that made it as real as I could make it, I'd already re-installed on my new build a few months ago.

Here's a portion of what I re-re-installed, along with whatever configuration tweaks I could recall.

  • FSX
  • FSX Acceleration
  • ActiveSky 2016
  • Activesky Cloud Art
  • REX Texture Direct
  • Assorted FSX SimConnect Clients
  • QualityWings Ultimate 146
  • Carenado B1900D
  • SODE
  • TrackIR 5
  • FlgihtBeam's KMSP
  • MegaScenery Earth Minnesota
  • SunSkyJet's KPHL
  • Ultimate Traffic Live
  • UT Live FedEX and UPS schedules
  • Hundreds of UT Live replacement AI models and repaints
  • A dozen or so freeware A/C

I suppose, since this is a country song, I need to lament about how I need to get into the Alpha-testing soon, so I can start missing all those third party apps I'll be missing with the new 2020 version of Flight Simulator.  Either that, or a verse about all the time it'll take to re-re-install all this stuff again (with, again, mention of a dog and a pick-up truck in the chorus).

😀

Sincerely,

Kevin -- simming since the Bruce Artwick  subLOGIC days.

P.S. I used to be more creative, until life as a Business Systems Analyst eroded my creativity away.  But, that's probably a different country song.

The trouble is there have been a fair few online stores gone bust in the the last year or so, so if people don't have the details like passwords or keys etc they might have trouble either re-downloading them or contacting the original developer.

I think I buried the lead -- I hope I get into the Alpha testing soon, so I can avoid having to re-re-install everything, and discover how much 3rd party stuff in FSX is OOB in Flight Simulator 2020.
