October 14, 200619 yr Hallo fellow FSX-ers :)I just figured out how to add an FS9 plane to FSX and thought I would post it on here for fellow simmers who might want to do the same thing. I got my Posky 737s flying perfectly in the new sim.The gurus on here might have a more streamlined method but here you go anyway http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/grinser/...-smiley-028.gif1. Select the FS9 plane you want to add & copy it into clipboard. In this example we will use a 737-700 by Posky.2. Locate the FSX a/c folder: Program FilesFlight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanes3. Paste the FS9 a/c folder into the Airplanes folder of FSX4. Now go into the FS9 a/c folder and open the aircraft.cfg5. Note the following lines under the repaint/s. Note also the two new lines you have to add (see arrows):---------------------------------ui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type=737-700 (Posky)ui_variation=Transavia PH-XRBui_typerole=Commercial Airliner <----*add this line*ui_createdby=Posky <----*add this line*description=Created by Posky---------------------------------6. Now to make the Posky plane appear in the FSX a/c selection menu you need to add speech marks to the above. So they should now look like this:---------------------------------ui_manufacturer="Boeing"ui_type="737-700 (Posky)"ui_variation="Transavia PH-XRB"ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"ui_createdby="Posky"description="Created by Posky"--------------------------------->>> Im not a 100% on the need for speech-marks but the add-on a/c did not appear in FSX without them (I noticed the .cfgs for default FSX planes have speech marks). <<<
October 14, 200619 yr There is an easier way see below.I created a new "Aircraft" folder off the main FSX folder (the same structure that FS9 has) and added the new line to the [MAIN] section of the fsx.cfg file.[MAIN].....SimObjectPaths.6=AircraftTHen, I simply copied over the desired aircraft folder into it. (Of course, you can still copy the folder into the SimobjectsAirplanes) The advantage is that if you are going to use an autoinstaller, you can point it to the FSX main folder, and it will seek the Aircraft folder in there.
October 14, 200619 yr hmmm... since the title of the post might attract a lot of people in the future, let me chip in with a couple of detailsopen all panel.cfg files for the aircraft and make sure the refrenced gauges are either in fsxgauges or in the panel folder(s) of the aircraft in question. old gauges may not work in fsx anywayopen all other cfg files and make sure nothing is aliased to a folder outside of the aircraft folder being copiedplanes using complex avionics or otherwise accessing the fs9 API may not work in fsx, at least the API calls may notadding the two lines you mention to aircraft.cfg is really cosmetic. it will work without themit may also be a good idea to keep legacy objects in a separate folder, referencing it by a SimObjectPaths.X=... line in fsx.cfg
October 14, 200619 yr Did I show my non-guruness or did I show my non-guruness http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...con_redface.gifThank you both for pointing out my mistakes and for saving others a lot of trouble. I always seem to post long-winded instructions http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/sad0139.gif
October 14, 200619 yr hey, i don't think i'm a guru for anyone. or rather--i know i'm not:-loli just went through the process myself last night and described the bumps i hit. the thread was a great idea--will help many people
October 15, 200619 yr Has anyone had any luck moving a FSD aircraft over to FSX? After moving the C115 and accepting "trust" for the manufacturer and gauges I received an error 15 message and was booted to desktop.
October 15, 200619 yr Author I think that is because all FSD aircraft rely on FSUIPC. As near as I can remember everytime I installed an FSD aircraft there was alwasys a selection to check on whether to install FSUIPC or not. CE
