JUSTSIM RIGA AIRPORT

Good morning!

This post is to announce an upcoming virtual airline serving the Baltic states, connecting them with a wide variety of destinations across Europe, Russia, other Commonwealth Independant States and the Middle East.

We operate out of 3 bases. Riga in Latvia is our largest base and also our headquarters, with Tallinn to the north in Estonia and Vilnius in Lithuania to the south.

Some interesting facts of this virtual airline include being powered by the very popular vAMSYS organization software, an interactive discord server which will focus as the main communication point for the virtual airline and an all-payware fleet consisting of :

12 - Dash-8 Q400 - Majestic Dash-8 Q400 for P3D and the flyJsim Q400 for xPlane
6 - Boeing 737-300 - PMDG 737-700 with "classic" layout for P3D and the IXEG 737classic for xPlane
4 - Boeing 737-500 - PMDG 737-600 with "classic" layout for P3D and the IXEG 737classic for xPlane

ARRIVAL INTO BUSY LONDON GATWICK

We are working closely with iniBuilds regarding the above fleet.

vBaltic has gained official acknowledgement from the real-world airBaltic. They understand our plans, have a point of contact with us if they wish to be more involved in the future but at the present time with the current real-world climate have opted to review this at a much later date and we look forward to that nice moment.

The goal behind the virtual airline is to utilize the excellent social media content available online directly from the airline to help our members operate within a highly realistic environment inside the simulator. For this reason upon opening we will only be recruiting a small number of pilots to operate our services across both turboprop and jet fleets and encompassing movements at all 3 of our bases equally.

The addition and common operation of the Airbus A220 within the real-world airline will NOT currently be simulated at vBaltic but the airline will review this situation periodically.

Shared cockpit will be available to members across any fleets where it is possible to do so.

We have already made contact with the Latvian and Estonian vACC and look forward to working closely with them, and becoming a familiar callsign both locally and at the various VATSIM events held across Europe and beyond at regular intervals.

Riga, Latvia

Mirroring realworld events, vBaltic has announced it will retire its remaining classic 737s and all 12 Dash-8 Q400s with immediate effect during the current cessation of operations. Upon launch later this month, the virtual carrier will initially operate just 5 of their new A220 aircraft and only offer repatriation flights between Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Oslo. Medical supply flights will be available between Riga and Urumqi in China, utilizing the aircrafts excellent range during this period of no scheduled passenger movements, expected to continue until 13th May at the earliest.

The virtual carrier previously noted it would be working closely with various flight simulation companies to explore opportunities :

This news comes as a bit of a shock to us but it will completely streamline our operations, its the right decision. We are really excited to have already put in place positive relationships with companies to provide pilots who are interested in being the very first to work with us on this equipment and for this VA with a really interesting experience and something a bit different.

It is not a normal virtual airline, it will not be for everyone, but its a direction that has to be taken because of the potential, if successful. There is customization in many areas, we are part of the VA sponsor program with virtualcol - pilots that are accepted to join us will have access to the virtualcol A220 at a special discounted rate. The aircraft itself will have changes to bring it closer in line with the real world aircraft, identical fuel tank capacity across 3 tanks. Empty and Maximum Gross Weight changes and near identical fuel flow characteristics ,  22% less fuel consumption than the previously operated 737classics. Other areas of the VA that we cannot report on just yet.

Customized sounds during flight with our smartcars program courtesy of TFDI. A full fleet of 22 Airbus A220 repaints from the respected iniBuilds group, in the current real-world mix of older livery, new livery and the 3 national flag special colour schemes of the countries we are proud to operate from and represent. The aircraft is proving very suitable in the test flights so far with no surprises. It puts us in a very good position, if we begin gaining experience with this brand new aircraft right now we can build up a good knowledge of the aircraft ready for whatever happens in the future.

At the present time we will only operate on the Prepar3d simulator platform but we are in contact with developers for X-plane and will monitor future developments for that platform.

Good day everyone,

Today is a special moment for myself and the VAMSYS team with the opening of vBaltic.

The opening time is scheduled for 1600utc / 1900L Riga / 1700L uk

You can recall the progress that has brought us to this point by reading the posts above. It will be a low-key event in reality because for me over the last few weeks we have travelled away from the sense of a traditional virtual airline and actually will be much more aligned with a "VC" if you will - a virtual community.

vBaltic has just one goal - to simulate virtual passenger operations across the Baltic states to a high standard of realism and safety.

It is no secret we are currently limited both in terms of platform and aircraft availability but that wont remain forever. Our partners Virtualcol and iniBuilds have been very receptive to our vision and have provided exceptional support from the first communication, including :

  • -30% discount on the A220 for VA members when purchasing through their online store
  • customized configuration changes within the aircraft to increase realism
  • realworld weights for SIMBRIEF that match the aircraft in the sim
  • high quality repaints of our FULL 22 aircraft fleet, including the 3 national flag themed liveries and an exclusive A220 Tomatoshade reflection profile

I look forward to welcoming the Xplane platform to our operations in the future and we are currently monitoring an A220 in development for this platform.

Screenshot_367.thumb.png.bd99c987cf8e15b3dcc433d40e9d2ccf.png

It also places us in a great position for the future - the very first virtual operation to exclusively utilise a fleet of these modern narrowbody aircraft. If we begin operations with the aircraft now, we can begin learning about it in detail, gaining understanding and knowledge that may be useful in the future to other virtual airlines or developers. In the past we have held communications with http://vacanada.org/v6/en/ across the Atlantic as they brought the -300 into service at the start of this year. Once things settle for us after launch, we welcome interest from developers, virtual airlines or third parties to discuss areas of our operation.

PILOT REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:

There needs to be an activity policy in place that protects us from pilots joining just to access files that may arise in the future but never actually fly for us, that is why our pilot requirements are very strict and as follows, please only join us if you have the available time to fly once or twice per month AND can meet ANY of the following requirements IN FULL:

  • A passion for real or simulated operations of the Airbus A220

  • A passion for realistic passenger flight operations throughout the Baltic States to destinations across Europe and beyond

vBaltic strives for realistic and safe aircraft operation however - we would never impose an experience requirement to begin flying with us! If you are new to flight simulation AND meet the 2 requirements above, the first place to go may be joining us on the jumpseat! - our active TWITCH channel lets you view the operation from the pilots perspective before deciding if its the right community for you.

With a fleet of 22 aircraft we have set ourselves realistic goals regarding our pilot numbers and social media following:

50 active pilots.
100 twitch followers.
200 facebook likes.

These totals will be updated daily and available to view on our discord server at any time.

Screenshot_249.thumb.png.e7114eacba8db19edb17217160a1e106.png

Just to confirm, please only consider joining our community if you meet the requirements above, due to platform and developer limitations - the aircraft we operate is payware only and currently limited to the Prepar3d and FSX platforms, we sincerely apologise and look forward to this changing in the future when we will certainly revisit our fleet and platform policy!

If you meet the above requirements and want to get onboard with us at the start of our journey:

vBaltic introduces historic fleet.
Today vBaltic announced the introduction of its previously operated fleet, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the airline commencing operations which takes place 1 week today.

The VA is powered by the popular vAMSYS organization software and has an interactive discord server acting as the main communication point for the virtual airline, the addition of the historic aircraft types has maintained the offering of an all-payware fleet consisting of :

- 22 virtualcol Airbus A220-300 already in operation with a 23rd aircraft arriving next month through our partners at iniBuilds
- Partnership has now extended to include QualityWings 757 and Avro RJ70 aircraft.
- The 12-strong fleet of Majestic Dash 8-Q400 liveries are available through avsim.com thanks to and with permission from repainter Lee Grant.
- PMDG 737-600 and -700 operations will be accepted as substitutions to simulating the classic -500 and -300 series respectively.

We are pleased this change will now allow pilots from various simulator platforms to be able to join us as there are suitable freeware and payware models available for at least 1 or more of our operated types.
