MSFS 2020: Blurries Better or Worse?

Recommended Posts

Community,

I was wondering if Microsoft have been able to fix the 'blurry' issues we've had for 20 years. Love to see screenshots of 737's instead of Cessna's over land.

It's not an "issue". FSX had that feature built into by design. Each class of terrain has a texture file that was mipmapped with multiple texture resolutions. The designers of FSX thought that if a user had slower hardware, it would be better to display a lower resolution texture (blurry) than no texture at all (black squares). Basically, if your hardware is too slow to run a specific flightsim, bad things will begin to happen.

So...MSFS 2020 will still have lower resolution using bing?

All people that might know that are covered under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

This sim will have worse 'blurries' if you have a bad internet connection. That is certain.

Unless using 'offline' or cached mode.

There are two kinds of blurries :

- under your aircraft, they are due to the gap of capability between your hardware and your sim+addons (including fast aircraft flying low). A little common sense and no blurries. Never had any for a long time.

- in the distance. This is a FSX/P3D  « feature » which can be a little mitigated by tuning the LOD parameters. I can live with it as, in real life, the far away landscape becomes somewhat indistinct. The FS20 team spoke of 600 km horizon in altitude. Not clear (pun non intended) whether it will be sharp all the way. Again not sure this is a real issue.
