is there a no-cockpit view, all the way around?

I know you can get rid of the cockpiut and just have floating guages, which is how I like it after take off, but whenever I look left, right etc, I get the cockpit. Can you get rid of it like in FS9? I like the view.

The only view you get rid of the cockpit is the first 'W' step past the Minipanel view. But that leaves you with no gauges. I can't find a definition of that view so it can't be modified such as you can do the any of the others.Cal

The seeming lack of view options, or at least changes in viewing options from FS9, is a huge disapointment to me. So many aircraft only have 2d panels available, while others are prefered to fly in 3d virtual cockpits for instance helis and bush planes. Yet FSX forces you to use primarily 1 or the other for an entire flight... so switching between airliners and helis or bush planes requires you to end the flight session, and restart with the same parameters, but with the other cockpit view instead. I dunno, I just think that the instant availability of 2d and 3d was great in FS9 and I'm dumbfounded why they didn't carry this over.Good luck trying to chang the course of the airliners while in 3d mode... it can be done, but straining to see it in the VC is rediculous. Why am I complaining? Because before and after an airliner flight, I usually like to tool about the new city in a heli of choice for sightseeing.

I'm not sure if I read you right, but can;t you just pres Alt and access the aircraft from there. You can get to views there as well. Calb, I can;t get the blank no cockpit view without pressing alt and getting the cockpit view, then pressing w (from memory). My main gripe is I can;t get rid of the cockpit when snapping the view left right, up or down. THe other really irritating thing is that for a moment, maybe three or four seconds, I get a no cockpit view, but then the cockpit renders slowly. I seem to remember seeing a pan-view mod for the non VC mode, but can;t find it now. I'm kind of hoping that will fix it for me.

Hi The situation you describe also happens in FS9 with the default aircraft and the same in FSX. What I have found is when you are using a third party panel you can edit the panel config right at the top which should have an entry(or several) like:Fixed view front etc etc.If you delete these entries and then save the panel config and restart FS those fixed or virtual views should be gone. However even in FS( using a third party panel with say the default 747 will not get rid of those side views as the default panel configs do not have those fixedview enteries. I don't know if you follow this explanation but thats how it appears to me

Hi G'as a stopgap measure until we learn more about the Cameras, if you are not using the VC, merely move the vc viewpoint forward so you aren't inside and don't look at the vc interior. You may see the AC outside when looking straight back....Baron original viewpoint was -8,n,n; moved to +8,n,n and got only the mini instrument in front, NO interiors, and the external when looking to the rear.Hope this helps.Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

Rick, you need to spend some time actually exploring the myriad 'view options...' ;)There is a two-level viewing system in place:1) S key cycles through the major view categories2) A key cycles through each major view categories sub-categoriesAlso, F9 and F10 will switch you instantly from 2d to VC and vice-versa...If anything, there are TOO MANY options! ;)

Well on the one hand maybe I was being hasty......on the other, I'm still fighting and loosing the framerate blurries battle... so I've not actually had any real time to devote to learning the practical flight differences between the new and old.The part I don't get is this: how the F@#% does Microsoft expect to get new customers for FS, if we experienced people have to jump through 3 dozen hoops just to get FSX to run acceptably?!?! Most new customers aren't going to go searching for a website to spend several hours combing for solutions... nah, the average buyer is gonna say "hmm, this game isn't working, I'll take it back for a refund". And instead of the hobby growing, the hobby gets stunted.
