Where do I find a Cessna-like pilot's seat?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at upgrading my folding chair (it has no wheels, so it works with my rudder pedals) to an authentic Cessna seat. I can't find a GA boneyard in the Vancouver, BC area and it appears that most of them are down in the Southern half of the USA?

At the very least, I would like a really good GA seat that will add to the flight sim experience. Has anyone purchased a nice GA seat that they would recommend? It would be ideal to use it on a rail system, and seat belt would be a bonus. 🙂

Why? Are you interested in getting hemorrhoids and agravating your back pain like real world pilots get? 😉

Seriously, you'd be better off with a video gaming chair.

You might think about Wentworth aircraft in Minneapolis.  They specialize in GA aircraft only.  http://www.wentworthaircraft.com/

Thanks Steve, I'll reach out to them to see if they can help me out.

Sounds like a huge upgrade from my current folding chair. 🙂

If you've seen my set up, you'd understand the level of realism I'm going after. I have a fully functioning panel with TRC radio stack/AP, Flight Illusion gauges, Brunner yoke, Redbird rudder pedals, Emuteq GPS, custom made Cessna throttle and mixture controls, switches, trim wheel, flaps, etc. The only thing I'm missing to complete my experience is a wrap around screen, and a nice seat.

I am open to other chairs as well, but most of them have wheels, which is why I don't use my office chair. Wheeled chairs and rudder pedals are a horrible combination. If you can recommend a particular gaming chair, I would be open to reading suggestions, but everything I've found online so far was not that great for a realistic flight sim experience. My plan with the Cessna seat is to install them on rails, so I can adjust the position prior to flight.

I am using a car seat, very comfortable. I built a box section base for it to sit on, at the correct height to suit my table. Then bolted the rails to the base for forward and backwards seat adjustment, the seat back is also adjustable to suit your sitting position. The only drawback is that there are no arm rests.

Cheers
