Help! Texture appears like this on TFS Dash 8-Q400

Recommended Posts

Whoever did the livery for that Dash 8 has set the alpha channel too high - too much reflection/chome. The alpha is a greyscale - set it to black and you get all shine and no colour. Set it to white and you get no shine at all.

How do I set the alpha?

Check that the texture .cfg file for this paint has this in it

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture.common

and that the 'texture.Common' folder exists in the aircraft root folder.

First off, do what Steve advised above - it's easier. :cool:

If you really need to set the alpha you need a couple of paint-type programs.

Typically, download DXTBmp. When you open up the particular texture file using DXTBmp, the software will display the alpha channel separately (small image at the top right of the screen). You can then send that alpha channel to another paint program such as Photoshop (not freeware) or paint.net (free). There you can alter the grey shade. Then save the alpha back into the texture file (DXTBmp).
