Wideclient Issues

Recommended Posts

Running RC4 on network and periodically I get the following message:  "Maybe running on wideclient but FS not running on server or wrong FSUIPC".  Yesterday was one of those days.  I rebooted both computers, closed and opened RC4 a few times but no luck.  Today, I did nothing different and RC4 worked perfectly.  Any thoughts on why this is happening?  Running version  5.152 FSUIPC on P3D computer.

Thanks.

Mark,

Firstly, update to 5.155. https://forum.simflight.com/topic/80977-updated-modules/

Then try this sequence...

Start P3D and when you see "Waiting to connect..." in the P3D title bar launch WideFS on the client. When you see "1 connected" in the title bar launch ShowText which is what I assume you are running.

You can then start RC4 and all should be well.

If the problem continues it's a WideFS problem and not a RC one. Post the fsuipc.log on a topic on Pete's forum.

Thanks Ray.  Will follow your guidance and report back.  Since intermittent, may be a little while.

I am also connecting Sim-Avionics software through FSUIPC and have not had any issues, just RC4 if that means anything.

Hi Mark. I had that message myself this morning. It just means you've started WideFS on the client before P3D has finished loading and FSUIPC has performed the handshake.

If it's disconnecting during a flight then you need to check the relevant logs - FSUIPC and WideClient / WideServer and post them to Pete's forum with an explanation. Ethernet or wi-fi connections?

Hi Ray:

I'm pretty sure it's not FSUIPC disconnecting during flight as the Sim-A software on another pc never disconnects.  Want to make sure I'm being clear in my description.

Hi Mark,

Logs are the key. I’ve never encountered RC4 disconnecting in all the years I’ve been using it.
