Why do you think flight simulator is a "game"?

I really do not mind the term "game" being used in this context. P3D (to use an alternative example) is a simulator and a game as far as I am concerned, despite the fact that it is not supposed to be used for "entertainment". The definition of "game" is....an activity that one engages in for amusement or fun.....and fun is what I am having when I am using P3D.

Seven pages ? Do I see a lack of ambition here ?  I will bring my contribution to reach ten pages.

Could a simmer land a 737 if the pilot died ?

Only if he has a yoke at home, no joysticks please!

No, the co-pilot will land the plane.

Can you imagine the PA call.. "Any FSX or P3D gamers with PMDG Boeing 737's out there? iFly uses can also put up their hands.. No joystick users please!"

Could the pilot land the 737 if all the automation died? 😄

You could compare this to American truck simulator (or any of the other names it comes in)

People are just as fanatical about that simulator too.  They build full home cockpits and try to replicate driving around trucks as in the real world. Is that a game or not?

Personally I think of flight simulators as a game.  They are played for entertainment value.  Our simulators we play at home don't add towards flight time hours on a pilots license.  99% of us will never be pilots.

There are plenty of games out there that try to replicate realistic situations in real life, and yet we have no issues with calling them games (E.g. Arma 3, a combat simulator)

In my opinion if your playing it for entertainment value its a game.  If your an approved simualtor with an approved instructor that counts towards your hours then i would consider it not.

This argument is silly.  What's in a name

Also thought   flight  sim  is  a  sim  since  your  simulating  the  actual  aircraft not  playing  a  game  with it 🙂

It's a game because as far as I'm aware they left out the part where someone squeezes milk from your tit and then makes delicious cheese from it.

You gotta go all in for it to be a sim😉

Maybe they should let the end user decide which name they want on the box? Microsoft Flight Game or Simulator (+$50). 😂
