DCS......Are you serious?

Recommended Posts

Seriously....take a look at these pics...

Are you kidding?...look at the Eurofighter renders of the HOTAS....really?  How are they making this look MORE REAL than real life????

And don't even get me started on the SuperCarier and Hind pics.  Good Lord they are stunning!!

And if you hit the little "More Screenshots"...you better not be a P47D fan or you probably will go into a euphoria-induced coma.

One day I will actually learn to fly the 4 planes in my DCS stable....sigh...with a few more surely to be in my hangar with the looks of these screenshots.

Such an incredible simulation....what a great time to be a simmer! 🙂

I am waiting for some military versions of the Boeing 737 P8,  Airbuses or Military Airlift Command aircraft like the Galaxy.

Be really cool, I think to do a Maritime patrol with a fighter escort (?????)

Really great programme as it is though.

The problem with DCS is that they are in the meantime focusing on developing/selling new aircraft, ships, etc. instead of fixing or completing their older aircraft.

Until almost a year ago it was my number 1 simulator. I never killed anyone (expect myself) or destroyed anything. It's a super immersive FLIGHT sim but I've finally given up on it.

It's frustrating to fly aircraft which have the same basic serious bugs since many years and they are apparently never going to be fixed.

From the old MiG-15 to the rather new Yak-52, there range of incomplete, broken aircraft is unfortunately really long.

Those are still a minority and i suspect, also didn't earn as much. The attention to the "big" planes is there, every patch there are new fixes and features introduced, both on third party addons and those developed by ED itself

It looks nice indeed, but i think the peak of detail for the textures holds with the F-14.

Anyway, did you see there are free trials for planes since march yes? And most are discounted too. Now we are approaching the trials for ww2 planes but soon there will be those about the maps as well, it's a really good opportunity to take advantage of those free trials.

Won't disagree with ya there...but I suspect as Pastaiolo mentions the big ticket planes seem to be updated on a decent tempo...and it may be developer-specific that contributes to some lagging (Razbam from what I've seen in my few pokes in the forums).  I guess the good news for me is that I'm so behind on learning the intimate details of any plane that if the stick and throttle work....I won't notice any bugs in the radar, comm/nav gear because i haven't learned to use them yet. 🤣
Seriously though, I know the utter frustration of buying a bird and waiting for it to have the features working as advertised....not a unique situation to flightsim in general (cough, cough, CS...been almost a decade for the promised updates to my FS2004 707...I'm pretty sure they wont happen....even the posts they made stating all the updates that were coming have disappeared long ago 🤨 )

I saw the Free trials....and certainly don't "need" another bird to learn to fly before I can takeoff without crashing the 4 I have, LOL. 🙂

That's exactly the problem. Since they are not going to earn much anymore with e.g. the F-5, the MiG-15 or the Yak-52 they aren't going to fix even basic bugs with these aircraft.

And concerning the 'big' ones. After almost 2 years the flight model of the F/A-18 is still not finished/correct.

I'm not the only one who refuses to buy any more aircraft until they fix/complete the available ones.

Amazing the hypocrisy in this community that continues to buy more and more unfinished content from DCS.

But don't you know? It's a magnum opus. Just like Franz Schubert's 8th Symphony.

Well, what's not correct about the F-18 flight model? Are the missing features game breaking? Do they stop people from enjoying the module? I really suspect the answer to this is no, and the missing features are probably things so unknown that a good chunk of the users woudn't even bother knowing normally, or it's something that really doesn't stop you from enjoying a module.

I bought plenty of EA modules, the only recent unpleasant situation i can remember is with the F-16 because, even if in EA, it was released too quickly and had some annoying bugs, which they sorted out in a matter of weeks. If that wasn't enough, however, when you buy a module in that same page it is plainly said if it's a EA module or not, with further explaination:

What is DCS World Early Access?

Early Access is an option for you to play this module in an early state, but it will be incomplete with bugs. The time a product remains in Early Access can vary widely based on the scope of the project, technical hurdles, and how complete the module is when it enters Early Access. Eagle Dynamics and all of our third parties strive to make this period as short as possible. An Early Access module can be played on both the Open Beta and Release versions of DCS World. Once the module exits Early Access, you will automatically have the Release version.

Is this a serious question? Have you checked the ED forums about the various and significant flight model problems which still exist since almost 2 years?

For those interested the in FLYING part of the sim, yes

For those interested the in FLYING part of the sim, yes

Thank you for explaining to me what EA means, but I'm one of the many users who supported ED over all the years since the first Flanker version.

ED promised to fix and complete their old modules in 2020....maybe they really do. Time will tell. I'll keep monitoring the ED forums.

You didn't answer my question. I am also a long time user with them, own most modules and follow the forum too. I just asked you what you feel is so wrong in the F-18 currently that stops you from enjoying it 🙂

Is there any other part to enjoy in a simulator besides flying? And Weapons in this case, which the F18 has plenty of compared to early EA with only the Sparrows and Sidewinders.

What do you think, since you have read my first post:  I never killed anyone (expect myself) or destroyed anything
