P3Dv5 and PTA compatibility

Recommended Posts

Quietly wondering if it is time to finally give up on PTA when I move to P3Dv5. Given that young Mr. Davies hasn't visited this forum since late November 2019 I honestly think that this will be the end of the road.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Søren Dissing

The best outcome (in my view) is that LM creates a sim where we don't *need* add-ons like PTA or TomatoShade.

According to what I've seen in the videos already released about P3Dv5 it seems that we'll still need one or the other.

Everybody has different monitors or 4K tv’s, everybody likes the look a little different, so Shader mod programs will be very welcome.

Perhaps with DX12 Reshade did very nice job but its not Shader mod... I prefer Shaders tweaks for a better result.

Pity if no any word/update about support of v5.

I don't think even Matt has a clue of how valuable PTA is for some members of the community. He seems to have a heart. He just finds it difficult to express it. Some people are just not adept at being social. Yet, what's perplexing is that he still has a cult of follower that are willing to fund his en devours.

Without pta i don‘t think i will be on P3D5. Tomatoe was always way to tricky for me and i never got it to work properly. Hopefully Matt will make PTA compatible with version 5 quickly

From what I have read about v5, the lighting has undergone significant revision and will require those utilities like PTA (and another one who I can't mention here but starts with a dark color) will need almost a total rewrite 😞

I will stay with PTA and P3D4.5.

We should praise Matt, he has brought a lot to the flight sim community.

All developers need some kind of financial support to progress and put product out for users.

I guess Matt, tried to do his best and I hope he will continue to support and develop products.

Thank you Matt and good luck.

Sorry, but we all "supported" him when we bought PTA. The least I would expect would be a statement from him whether PTA will support P3D 4.5HF3 and/or P3Dv5, but given the date of his last visit to the forum I believe that I know the answer ...

Hi

I am also bought previous PTA versions and still using it with P3Dv4.5

I really hope that we shall get the update for P3D 4.5 HF3, from Matt.

Has anybody tried previous PTA with P3D 4.5 HF3? I can't test it as I have not installed P3D4.5 HF3 yet.

Thanks

I disabled the advanced weather in version 5. I want to use the old engine and PTA. Is it possible to transfer shaders from 4.5 to 5 by simple copying?

What you can try :

- Save the ShadersHLSL folder that is inside the p3dv5 root

- Copy the P3Dv4.5 ShadersHLSL folder into the p3dv5 root

Delete all files in the Shaders folder that Local Disk (C:) ► Users ► You ► AppData ► Local ► Lockheed Martin ► Prepar3D ►  Shaders

Startup p3dv5. If it works fine. If not put the original saved Shaders folder back and delete all files in the Shaders folder
